Social Investment Managers and Advisors (SIMA) LLC is a U.S. SEC-registered international impact
investment manager focused on impact investment opportunities with commercial returns and
clear social benefits. SIMA provides investment management and advisory services, and has
developed social businesses in solar energy, financial inclusion, affordable housing, and education
sectors. We work in some of the lowest-income countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. We seek
to leverage our international expertise and launch a US-based investment fund with a focus on solar
that benefits low-and middle-income communities.
Role Description
SIMA is launching a private credit fund focused on financing small/mid-sized solar projects with a
focus on solar that benefits low-and middle-income U.S. communities. The Fund will provide flexible
debt capital to small and mid-sized solar developers, EPC contractors, project owners, and other
participants in the solar energy ecosystem.
We are seeking an Investment Manager to support the origination, evaluation, execution, and
monitoring of investments. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the U.S.
solar market, an established network of developers, EPC contractors, and other industry
participants, and the ability to originate, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities.
This is a unique opportunity to join the founding investment team of SIMA's U.S. solar private credit
strategy, helping to build the platform from inception while shaping its investment pipeline, market
presence, and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with solar developers, EPC contractors, project owners, lenders, community based institutions, and other market participants.
- Source and develop a pipeline of investment opportunities with a focus on solar that benefits low-and middle income communities
- Coordinate and support due diligence, including financial, legal, technical, and ESG review.
- Perform financial analysis and credit underwriting for prospective investments.
- Prepare investment memo and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Support the structuring, negotiation, and execution of debt financing transactions.
- Monitor portfolio companies and projects, including financial performance, covenant compliance, and project progress.
- Track market trends, policy developments, tax incentives, and competitive dynamics within the U.S. solar market.
- Represent SIMA at industry conferences, client meetings, and networking events to strengthen market relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Support fundraising activities by assisting with investor due diligence, preparing marketing materials, and responding to investor information requests as needed.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Economics, Energy, or a related field (A master’s degree or CFA designation is an advantage).
- 5–6 years of relevant experience in the U.S. solar or renewable energy sector, preferably in project finance, commercial lending, infrastructure investing, or corporate finance.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. solar market, including commercial & industrial (C&I) solar, community solar, and distributed power generation.
- Experience evaluating project finance or corporate lending transactions.
- Demonstrated network across U.S. solar developers, EPC contractors, project owners, lenders, and other industry participants.
- Experience originating transactions or managing client relationships within the renewable energy sector is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel within the United States as required.
