Position Overview
Skagit River Steel & Recycling, Inc., part of the ABC Recycling group of companies, is seeking a Commercial Buyer to join our team in Burlington, WA. Reporting to the General Manager, the Commercial Buyer will drive revenue growth and profitability through proactive business development, strategic procurement, and relationship management.
This position is key to Skagit’s renewed growth strategy, aimed at reclaiming dormant accounts, expanding market share, and strengthening customer relationships in a competitive landscape. The ideal candidate will bring industry knowledge, existing vendor relationships, and a track record of success in sourcing and account development—preferably in the recycled materials or heavy industrial sectors of the Pacific Northwest.

Skagit River Steel & Recycling, Inc., part of the ABC Recycling group of companies, is seeking a Commercial Buyer to join our team in Burlington, WA. Responsibilities
- Proactively identifies and pursues new business prospects for Skagit River Steel & Recycling and develop existing relationships to achieve growth in volume and market share
- Follows up on sales referrals received from all sources
- Attends and present at meetings and functions/events necessary to build and retain customers
- Maintains the customer relationship database and ensure regular contact
- Implements account management strategies for current and potential customers to ensure loyalty and sales growth
- Collaborates with Commercial and Operations teams to ensure client service needs are communicated and service levels are consistent with Skagit River Steel & Recycling and ABC service standards
- Supports the strong customer service culture within the commercial procurement team to model and foster the Skagit River Steel & Recycling and ABC customer service culture throughout the organization
Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven success in sales or account management, preferably in the Recycled Materials Industry or comparable service-driven, heavy industry.
- Strong market knowledge of the Pacific Northwest region.
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, or sales, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with End-of-Life Vehicle Recycling is a strong asset.
- MS Office experience as well as some CRM exposure is an asset
- Values driven and proven team player
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
