Assists mechanics in repairs and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment such as diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic tools, Electrical Systems, and mobile equipment (excavator, dozer, loader, or forklift) by performing the duties outlined below. Maintains shop cleanliness and housekeeping. * The hourly pay rate is $28.47 per hour * Monday - Friday, with OT as required * This is a Union position with Teamsters Local 287, San Jose. Assists Mechanics in daily equipment repairs and maintenance, including fueling and lubricating machines. * Assists in device removal and dismantling for repairs and overhaul, under the supervision of mechanics. * Maintain shop to comply with company housekeeping policy (removing trash, keeping proper labels on drums, sweeping or blowing down floors, keeping materials in proper places). * Washing equipment when necessary for repairs or after PM is completed (using proper PPE). * Ensure that all equipment complies with OEMs and regulatory agencies operating standards, ensures proper equipment lubrication in compliance with OEMs lubrication schedule. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee should understand the high impact this position holds to maintain cost control, equipment reliability, and performance. The employee will be accountable for effective and efficient repair part gathering, using proper identification of parts needed, and ordering procedures. * Assist in general grounds maintenance and building maintenance. * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) * Mechanical aptitude * Welding experience preferred A minimum of one year of mechanic-related experience and/or training; Our people achieve this by creating a zero-harm workplace, being exemplary members of the communities in which we operate, and being responsible stewards of the environment.
