Clean Energy Canada, an initiative of the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, is an SFU leader in this space. Clean Energy Canada is dedicated to advancing pragmatic climate and clean energy solutions by investing in positive and constructive relationships with key stakeholders. Clean Energy Canada links effective action with pressing issues such as affordability, economic competitiveness and energy security.
The Public Affairs Officer leads the development, coordination and oversight of Clean Energy Canada’s public affairs efforts, including government and stakeholder relations. Externally, the Associate Director of Public Affairs engages at senior levels with policy makers and decision makers at all levels of government as well as with key stakeholders, allies and media, to advance Clean Energy Canada’s mission and program goals. Internally, the Associate Director of Public Affairs is an active member of the senior leadership team, contributing to collective efforts to identify key priorities, shape policy work, support fundraising, contribute to compelling communications, and work to maximize the impact of Clean Energy Canada’s campaigns and projects.
The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker and problem solver. With excellent planning and prioritization skills, they will be able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines. A creative and innovative team player, the incumbent will excel in forging relationships, making informed decisions, achieving results and creating positive change. The incumbent will be a strong communicator (both written and oral), capable of building and maintaining effective external high-level relationships, collaborations and partnerships.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in political science, law, or a related discipline with seven years of relevant senior management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Excellent knowledge of current issues, perspectives and priorities related to clean energy/climate across Canada and internationally.
The incumbent will have knowledge of climate and clean energy fields and Canadian decarbonization pathways. The incumbent will have knowledge of the Canadian regulatory and policy landscape, at provincial and/or federal levels. This will ideally encompass knowledge and expertise related to clean energy policy, clean transportation policy, and measures that advance the development of a clean economy.
