Solar Design Engineer

We are seeking a Solar Design Engineer to join a premier local installer in the Seattle area known for its commitment to sustainability and innovative solar solutions in both residential and commercial solar projects, including complex installations and battery energy storage systems.  This role will involve creating conceptual designs, collaborating with third-party engineering firms, and ensuring compliance with local codes and standards.

This is a remote job opportunity, with onsite visits only required about 2x monthly to assist with startup and commissioning at job sites in the Seattle area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and produce conceptual designs for solar PV systems and battery energy storage solutions based on client specifications and project requirements.
• Create site-specific engineering plans and ensure accuracy in design documentation, including single-line diagrams, elevation drawings, and bills of materials.
• Collaborate with third-party design engineering firms to review and modify designs as necessary, ensuring all projects meet quality standards and deadlines.
• Provide technical support and guidance to project managers and installation teams during the design and implementation phases.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field preferred.
• 2-5+ years of experience in solar PV design and battery energy storage systems.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Helioscope, and other relevant tools.
• Strong understanding of local codes and standards related to solar installations.
• Familiarity with energy yield simulations and shading analysis tools.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects at various stages.
• A passion for renewable energy and a commitment to sustainability.
