Position Overview:

  • EHS Specialist implementing and managing SGRE EHS programs at various assigned wind farms under O&M contract.
  • Supports the design and/or implements safety guidelines and instructions (for occupational safety, fire prevention, dangerous goods and emergency management), for an assigned organization.
  • Relocation will not be offered for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates overall planning of projects and decides on allocation of resources.
  • Develops, proposes and implements function specific EHS guidelines, processes and/or methods.
  • Compiles and advises on instructions and regulations and ensures effective communication to every employee concerned.
  • Plans the roll out of Safety programs, for the unit assigned.
  • Gathers data and analyses respective statistics regarding success of EHS Management measures.
  • Supports or prepares regular external reporting for Occupational Safety authorities, or for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains operational contact to external Safety authorities.
  • Keeps abreast with all respective regulations and standards.
  • Trains management and employees on EHS topics.
  • Facilitates the investigation of EHS incidents in the assigned area.
  • Coordinates with customer and sub-contractor representatives in EHS matters.
  • Provides on-site support to the work locations (e.g. climbing turbines performing inspection or investigation, coaching employees, etc.).
  • Possesses the ability to work at height and successfully climb wind turbines for work and basic rescue in accordance with Global Wind Organization training standards.

Required Knowledge/ Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS Education field, Occupational Health, or similar
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of relevant experience in EHS in the Wind Industry
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with multiple areas of the organization
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others in working towards a common goal
  • Ability to work in cross-departmental teams and garner support for EHS related activities
  • Solid communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience and comfortability with presenting in front of small and large groups
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Travel required up to 55%
  • Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States and be able to clear custom requirements for travel internationally for work in Canada. Qualified Applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.
