Position Overview
  • Join one of the world’s leading suppliers of wind power solutions as a Wind Technician for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy! Demand for electricity generated from renewable sources is growing fast, and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has the answers. As one of the market leaders, we combine technological innovations, experience, and expertise to deliver readily available, one-stop solutions and have a proven track record of successfully delivering wind power projects on all continents. SGRE is currently seeking highly talented and motivated candidates for a Wind Technician position. The candidate will work together with a multi-disciplinary group to ensure top performance on our wind farms. The ideal candidate has the ability to work a flexible schedule, along with the ability to analyze and resolve problems independently and efficiently. S/he will provide excellent service to our customers, have the ability to work on complex systems in challenging environments, and participate in the development of new field procedures and best practices.
  • Relocation will not be offered for this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs a range of qualified and complex Quality tasks to ensure that agreed quality standards (for products, services, solution or projects) comply with agreed requirements.
  • Proceeds with qualified, routine and non-routine Quality tasks.
  • Applies specialized Quality systems, equipment, tools and methods.
  • Initiates actions according to guidelines, when Quality does not match the standards.
  • Responds to quality related enquiries, may act as first point of contact in subject matters.
  • A timed entry exam will be given. A minimum of 80% score is required.
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and gauge inspections and record all the required data. Interpret results of visual, gauge and dimensional inspections, and recommend appropriate action in accordance with referenced specifications, accepted company practices and industry standards. Document and test the required inspections of components and perform required process control actions to ensure equipment and materials meet minimum requirements prior to inspection.
  • Use all required Safety equipment and follow established safety procedures
  • Receive and perform work assignments, oral and/or written and follow work instructions. If work instructions are not provided a Task risk assessment needs to be completed
  • Accurately report findings of inspections and audits to operations, supervisor, etc. using the proper recording systems
  • Document, organize, and retain all findings of evaluations and inspections in a timely manner using the Integrated Management system (IMS) and proper recording system.
  • Interpret drawings, sketches, etc. to obtain material dimensional information with minimal supervision.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of equipment to assemble, inspect, and evaluate parts per accepted company and industry standard.
  • Perform required test and inspection per process specifications, including calibration data.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain inspection equipment as needed.
  • Conduct inspection techniques and processes for qualifying vendors
  • Perform Final inspections as required and Support NCR reports and corrective actions
  • SAP - release and/or block parts for production. Accept or reject work as indicated by comparing data to the required drawing specifications, process specifications or other documented engineering criteria
  • Work with and/or take direction from support engineers
  • Assemble, verify dimensions, and disassemble components as required to gain data for accurate records
  • Follow all applicable specifications and procedures regarding the performance of the operations.
  • Provide technical directions and training for others
  • Keep work areas in a clean and orderly conditions (5s)
  • Support and apply team concepts in daily activities
  • Final inspect, quality tag and release of complete Major components, Nacelle, Hub
  • Generate NCR for Production operations and supporting operations.
  • Investigate nonconformance to prove fault on Supplier, Engineering, or Operations
  • Communicate and facilitate team meetings with Supplier, Engineering, or Operations
  • Assign action in NC reporting systems to gain information and corrective actions
  • Provide detail knowledge or information of nonconformances
  • Work NCR assigned actions in reporting systems in MRB: Scrapping, outbounds, Maintenance, Repair
  • Verify NCRs are complete and closed as required
  • Inspect sub-assemblies, main components, sub components
  • Record quality issues and communicate back to production for corrective actions
  • Support Production, SQE, SM, in all Quality issues
  • Coordinate with Production to work assign NCR actions
  • Maintain and assign action on NCRs for Missing Parts
  • Validate with Logistics / Production team leads on part shortages
  • Validate and verify accuracy on production documentation
  • Provide complete Final documentation for product release to projects
  • Compile and complete documentation packets for internal / external customers
  • Ability to read, write and understand metric measuring system.
  • Demonstrate the ability to count and record material data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in SAP and other MS Office computer tools
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted on a regular basis and be on feet 8 or more hours/day
  • Sit, stand, bend & kneel for 8 or more hours/day
  • Available for overtime for up to 12 -hour days and on off days
Required Knowledge/ Skills, Education, and Experience
  • 2+ years of experience required in Quality inspection
  • High School diploma is required
