Role Description Summary

The incumbent supports SES’s broader ESG strategy by driving the development and implementation of the company’s Climate Action Plan. This includes defining and advancing pathways to reduce the company’s environmental impact across energy use, waste streams, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The role will shape science‑based climate targets, steer data collection and reporting (including CSRD/ESRS), and ensure cross‑functional alignment across opera-tions, finance, procurement, engineering, and customer‑facing team.

It drives the modelling and delivery of SBTi‑aligned targets, ensures high‑quality CSRD/ESRS reporting, and works cross‑functionally to embed climate action into operations, risk management, and customer‑facing activities.
Climate Strategy & Planning
- Develop and update SES’s Climate Action Plan covering energy management, waste reduction, CO₂ mitigation, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Lead the definition and modelling of SBTi‑aligned targets, including scenario analysis and business‑case modelling for decarbonisation levers.
- Integrate climate considerations into enterprise risk management, including physical and transition climate risks.
- Collect, calculate, and report GHG emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 using recognised methodologies and tools.
- Collect, calculate, and report climate‑related environmental metrics beyond GHG emissions as required for internal and external disclosure.
- Lead CSRD/ESRS‑aligned climate reporting and contribute to other frameworks (GRI, CDP, SASB, Ecovadis).
- Develop and update SES’s Climate Action Plan covering energy management, waste reduction, CO₂ mitigation, and operational efficiency improvements
- Lead or support assessments of SES sites to quantify environmental impacts (energy, waste, water, emissions, other footprint indicators).
- Identify, validate, and implement measures to reduce SES’s environmental footprint, collaborating with operations, engineering, facilities, and procurement teams.
- Develop and oversee high‑quality offset or neutralisation programs where relevant.
- Contribute to more circular product and operational practices.
- Partner with product teams, sales, and customer‑facing functions to align SES climate action with customer expectations and opportunities.
- Work cross‑functionally to support ESG strategy execution and drive climate integration across the business.
- Skilled in calculating Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, applying recognised methodologies and emission‑factor databases.
- Strong understanding of CSRD/ESRS, GRI, CDP, SASB and related climate‑reporting requirements.
- Ability to develop SBTi-aligned pathways, run scenario and business‑case modelling, and support Net‑Zero target setting.
- Experience identifying, quantifying, and integrating physical and transition climate risks.
- Proficiency in assessing energy use, waste streams, and operational environmental impacts.
- Proficiency with environmental accounting software, carbon‑management tools, and data platforms.
- Understanding of circular design principles and their application to products and operations.
- High level of ownership, self‑direction, and initiative.
- Curiosity and drive for continuous improvement of climate‑related systems and processes.
- Ability to work effectively within a distributed, international team.
- Master’s degree in environmental engineering, sustainability, climate science or similar field.
- Certification or training in sustainability, GHG accounting, carbon management, or ESG topics.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience with at least 2 years in a climate‑related role, including responsibility for emissions, climate strategy, or climate risk.
- Demonstrated experience with GHG accounting, climate risk assessment, and SBTi target development.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks including CSRD (ESRS), GRI, CDP, SASB, Ecovadis.
- Proven track record working cross‑functionally to develop or implement climate or environmental strategies.
- Proficiency with environmental accounting tools, data platforms, and carbon‑management software.
