ESG Research & BD Intern
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented ESG Analyst Intern based in São Paulo, Brazil, to join our team for a 3–6+ month part-time internship. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates with academic, internship, or project experience in ESG, sustainability, or related fields who are eager to build practical experience in ESG research, data analysis, and reporting. The intern will work closely with our ESG Lead based in Brazil and support business development efforts in the Brazilian market.
Key Responsibilities
- ESG Research: Conduct desktop research on sustainability regulations, ESG reporting trends, and industry benchmarks, particularly within the Brazilian context.
- Data Support: Assist in gathering, organizing, and cleaning ESG-related data for reporting and analysis.
- Reporting Assistance: Support the preparation of ESG disclosures using frameworks such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD under the guidance of senior team members.
- Project Support: Help prepare presentations, case studies, and client materials. Attend internal meetings and take notes as required.
- Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to internal knowledge-building initiatives, such as creating summaries of ESG developments or case libraries.
- Business Development Support: Assist the Tokyo ESG Lead in identifying and supporting opportunities in the Brazilian market.
- Event Participation: Join webinars, training sessions, or industry events to enhance learning and contribute to team insights.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Economics, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
- Language: Native fluency in Portuguese, and fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
- Experience: Prior ESG- or sustainability-related academic projects, internships, or involvement in student organizations preferred.
- Interest in ESG: Demonstrated passion for sustainability, corporate responsibility, and/or environmental or social impact topics.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong research and data-handling skills; experience with Excel or basic data tools is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Initiative & Learning Attitude: Proactive, organized, and eager to learn from a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Work Authorization: Must currently reside in São Paulo and be able to work as an independent contractor.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with ESG frameworks (e.g., GRI, TCFD, SASB) through coursework or prior projects.
- Basic understanding of climate policy, sustainability reporting, or corporate ESG initiatives in Brazil.
- Experience with sustainability-related tools or platforms is a bonus (e.g., carbon calculators, ESG data providers).
