Purpose and Scope
This role resides in the General Ledger Team under Finance Shared Services. The role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and yearly closing of accounts in accordance with Group Policy, SFRS and regulatory requirements for a portfolio of intermediate holding and active operating companies. The role is also expected to support finance transformation by applying digital tools, data analytics and AI-enabled solutions to improve closing efficiency, strengthen review controls, enhance exception analysis and support more insightful financial reporting.
Key Role & Responsibilities
1. Serve as the primary finance representative in liaising with the various departments, clarifying financial results, investigating variances and addressing complex accounting issues
2. Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities, including leading and reviewing the work performed by GL Executive:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial and statutory reports (eg. Monthly P&L, Non-audit Services (NAS), Interest Person Transactions (IPT), statistics etc)
- Review and post journal entries parked by GL Executive into SAP
- Ensure timely submission of monthly accounts to Group consolidation system (Tagetik EPM)
- Review monthly / quarterly audit schedules and ensure regular clearing of balance sheet items
- Review monthly bank reconciliation
- Handle year end audit including financial statement preparation, audit queries, XBRL and other audit related matter
- Timely and accurate preparation of corporate tax provision and tax schedules
- Review GST reports prepared by GL Executive. Ensure correct GST treatment and timely submission to IRAS
- Review and approve e-capex form for asset requisition, write-off, disposal and transfer accordingly to the relevant SOP
- Review and ensure accurate Fixed asset reconciliation and reporting, and inventory reconciliation
- Review and monitor project tracking and ensure timely and accurate capitalisation of projects
3. Lead discussion with internal and external stakeholders for eg. Explaining accounting / tax treatments, responding to auditors’ / tax consultants’ queries etc
4. Cascade new accounting / tax treatment (eg. IFRS 18, system changes, FSS process updates) and providing guidance to the team
5. Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation withing general ledger processes, including journal review, balance sheet clearing, reconciliation monitoring, variance analysis and financial reporting etc
6. Participate in digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of AI-enabled tools and automation to improve general ledger processes, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Qualification & Experience
1. Minimum Degree in accounting or equivalent
2. At least 5 years of relevant experience in similar capacity
3. Good knowledge of SFRS and statutory requirements
4. Good interpersonal and communication skills
5. Detail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
6. Fast learner and proactive, with strong problem solving and execution capability
7. Ability to adapt and learn quickly while meeting tight deadlines
8. Collaborative team player with the ability to guide and support team members
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with willingness to use digital tools such as Power Query, Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot or other AI-enabled finance tools to improve productivity and reporting quality.
10. Continuous improvement mindset with interest in simplifying manual processes, improving controls and enhancing finance service delivery through digital and AI-enabled solutions.
