Climatize makes it incredibly simple to invest in renewable energy projects across the US while potentially earning up to 12.75% annually. Having successfully raised over $12,000,000 for renewable energy projects since our launch in May 2023, were expanding our engineering team and seeking a Principal or Staff level AI/ML Engineer to be the technical lead for a new product line.

Our mission is to generate $1 Billion per year of new investments in renewable energy by 2030 while the vision is to build a global network for climate finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead development of a productiongrade multiagent system designed for renewable energy project development.
  • Implement agent workflows covering:
    • Legislative and interconnection research
    • Engineering design optimization using thirdparty APIs (e.g., Helioscope)
    • Automated permitting document retrieval and generation
  • Investment memo preparation with financial modeling and risk analysis.
  • Build and maintain a supervisory agent layer for evaluation, error handling, and memory management across tasks.
  • Integrate the system with external tools (Helioscope, Paces, Energy Toolbase), vector databases, and structured document pipelines.
  • Lead orchestration of LLMs and APIs, including LangChain, RAG pipelines, and commercial models (OpenAI, Claude, Manus).
  • Own deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement cycles to ensure reliability, scalability, and compliance with performance and safety requirements.

This is not a management role to start with, youll need to be passionate about rolling your sleeves up & doing the work. Ideal candidates must have a strong bias toward action with the ability to problemsolve quickly and make decisions based on Climatize business and product goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years professional experience in software engineering or applied ML, with 2+ years building production AI agents or multiagent systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in orchestrating LLMs with APIs, including LangChain and retrievalaugmented generation (RAG).
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering autonomous AI system architectures with measurable reliability.
  • Strong backend engineering background (Python, Docker, cloud deployment).
  • Clear understanding of distinctions between tooluse, agentic reasoning, and autonomous execution.
  • Preferred: Experience with solar design tools (Helioscope, PVsyst, Aurora), geospatial/energy data workflows, or project finance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • +2 years of experience in the energy sector.
  • Experience integrating solar and energy system design tools (Helioscope, PVsyst, SAM, Energy Toolbase) into automated workflows.
  • Familiarity with permitting, interconnection, and compliance processes in distributed energy projects.
  • Background in renewable energy, infrastructure, or climate technology product development.
  • Proficiency with vector databases, RAG architectures, and hybrid retrieval systems.
  • Prior experience automating document workflows (OCR, templating, compliance reporting).
  • Track record working in earlystage startups or entrepreneurial environments with high technical autonomy.
