The Role

SCV is looking for a motivated individual to join our consulting team as a Junior Clean Fuel Consultant. As a Junior Clean Fuel Consultant, you will be responsible for supporting consulting and accredited verification services under the Canadian Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR), and similar programs. You will work closely with our clients to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide accurate reporting. You will be expected to prepare proposals, support projects and liaise with clients. Given the diversity in our portfolio, you will be exposed to a variety of innovative settings, with a self-directed work schedule. The demand for sustainability and environmental services is growing rapidly and SCV offers an opportunity for a motivated individual to accelerate their career in this field.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clean fuel consulting and verifications in the CFR and related programs/markets;
  • Support life cycle assessments under the CFR and other related clean fuel programs using OpenLCA;
  • Support GHG quantification and verification of Scopes 1, 2, and 3 GHG inventories;
  • Support climate change risk assessment and adaptation planning, guiding clients through sustainability strategies, sustainability reporting, and workshops;
  • Prepare detailed proposals for projects in clean fuel and GHG quantification and verification, climate change adaptation planning, sustainability, and air quality consulting;
  • Regional and potentially international travel for site visits (short term, periodically over the year, <15%)
  • Support project deadlines, resources, and budgets;
  • Prepare technical memos, reports, and presentations for internal client and public facing purposes;
  • Support marketing and business development opportunities, and;
  • Other tasks and project work as needed.


Who We Look For:

  • 1+ years of experience in GHG quantification and/or accredited verification;
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Clean Fuel Regulations and related regulatory frameworks;
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, life cycle assessment (LCA) principles;
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, or equivalent experience;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience with regulatory and voluntary GHG quantification and verification across Canada and/or internationally (OBPS, EPS, Alberta TIER, GHG Protocol);
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel handling large datasets and working with complex functions to manage data sets; and,
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word in the context of preparing professional deliverables.


Assets to help your application:

  • Business development and marketing experience in the context of environmental engineering, sustainability consulting, climate change management, or carbon pricing;
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14065, 14040, and 14044 standards;
  • Experience with LCA using variety of modelling software;
  • Strong project and client management skills and proven track record of building client relationships;
  • History of successfully preparing detailed technical reports for specific audiences; and,
  • Prior experience in carbon pricing, decarbonization and carbon footprinting.
