Job Overview

The Program Coordinator, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Forestry, is a key member of the team who carries out a variety of support, operation, and administrative tasks related to carbon offset verification. Forestry carbon offset project types include forestry (reforestation, improved forest management, REDD+), and blue carbon (wetlands, mangroves).

The main areas of responsibility include coordination and operations, program quality, administration, and assistance in business development. At the direction of the Operations Manager, and in conjunction with the Senior Program Manager, the Program Coordinator, GHG Forestry will work to support forestry-related activities of the GHG Forestry program, and assist with other responsibilities, as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Project and Financial Coordination

  • Assist in ensuring documentation related to auditing (e.g., proposals, conflict of interest filings, contracts and agreements, reports, and milestone and time tracking) is properly executed and maintained in compliance with SCS quality management systems and the rules of the relevant certification scheme, where applicable
  • Prepare proposal narratives, proposal budgets, and invoices for clients
  • Support resource planning and logistics for meetings, events, audits, and other program activities
  • Carry out travel booking and logistical arrangements, as needed
  • Assist in management of staff auditor schedules, workloads, equipment, and site visit travel arrangements/expenses, and support SCS subsidiaries and subcontractors, as applicable
  • Maintain program calendars, track project milestones, and prepare internal progress updates or reports
  • Review and track contractor invoices and staff expenses for accuracy and payment processing
  • Ensure proper forms and information are supplied to schemes in a timely manner
  • Support collection of data for financial and operational reporting in close coordination with the Operations Manager and Senior Program Manager

Client Support and Communication

  • Provide exemplary customer service in response to requests and inquiries
  • Assist with preparation of proposals and project budgets
  • Provide information to clients regarding the certification process and relevant requirements
  • Manage daily communications with clients, SCS program personnel, and contract auditors
  • Support the program through client relationship management within a team environment

Operations

  • Maintain and organize program documentation, records, and databases
  • Support internal processes such as contract management, procurement, and document control
  • Support the maintenance of the ISO accreditation and quality management system
  • Support development of operational efficiencies
  • Assist in maintenance of the auditor qualification and skill database (e.g., Auditor Matrix)
  • Collaborate on special projects, as assigned
  • Ensure information accuracy and version control across program materials
  • Work closely with team members across departments to ensure consistent execution of program goals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Natural Resources or a related field or
  • 3+ years of equivalent work experience and
  • 1+ years of professional coordination experience
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage time, work well independently, and work in team-oriented situations
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-service oriented environment
  • Fluent in English with excellent writing and verbal communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with climate change policy (e.g., Cap and Trade, carbon offsets), science (e.g., forestry, soils, agriculture), and/or ISO standards
  • Exceptional database management skills with ability to rapidly learn new systems as necessary

Working Remotely

At this time, SCS Global Services is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This role will be based out of your home office.

Estimated Hourly Salary

$20.40 - $26.55
