Overview

The Senior Specialist, Fixed Asset Accounting, is responsible for managing the accounting of fixed assets for the company, from vehicle manufacturing to retail operations. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance and integrity of fixed assets records through the asset lifecycle.

What you'll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset ledger, ensuring accurate classification, capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of assets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate accounting for asset impairments, write-offs, and revaluations in compliance with IFRS.
  • Monitor capital projects (CIP) and ensure timely capitalization in compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor Assets under Construction (AuC) to ensure accurate cost accumulation, appropriate classification, and timely transfer to fixed assets upon project completion.
  • Review, track and ensure compliance with IFRS and company policies for development capitalization
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, finance and procurement to track asset acquisitions and ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory audits of fixed assets and investigate discrepancies.
  • Serve as the point of contact for Scout departments for asset advice and questions
  • Prepare and post monthly depreciation and other asset-related journal entries.
  • Support financial reporting by preparing schedules and analyses for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and regulatory requirements related to fixed assets.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements, controls, and best practices for asset management.
  • Participate in ERP system upgrades and configuration related to the fixed asset module.
  • Provide reporting and insights to management regarding capital spending, asset utilization, and asset retirement.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the future Scout Motors corporate headquarters, which is anticipated to be identified in 2025. This role may be remote to start but will transition to an in-office setting at the headquarters after the location is determined and you are expected to relocate at such time. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.
  • The responsibilities of this role require occasional attendance in office with in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 5 years focused on fixed asset accounting.
  • Prior experience in accounting for manufacturing, preferably automotive or heavy equipment, is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and fixed asset accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
  • Knowledge of capital project accounting and internal controls.
  • Experience with asset tracking systems and inventory management.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $132,500.00
