What you'll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- General Responsibilities:
- Support supplier quality planning and execution of manufacturing, assembly techniques and quality control processes from the advanced development phase to mass production using APQP and VDA quality management processes
- Support all quality performance and functional standards, to ensure all vehicle activities are met in the supply chain to meet Customer satisfaction.
- Ensure supplier compliance with Scout's quality expectations and escalate issues when necessary.
- Manage Supplier PPAPs and ongoing activities within the supply chain from development to series production.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Support and lead suppliers in efficient use of best methods of manufacturing, testing, and gauging, poke-yokes and correct tools or assembly equipment to use.
- Quality Assurance & Control:
- Proactively and reactively contain quality issues at suppliers
- Review and approve boundary samples, appearance catalogs, and other quality documentation.
- Validate supplier corrective actions involving design/process changes using read-across methodology.
- Support the planning, execution and evaluation of root cause analysis to ensure high quality of Scout production vehicles through fast response methodologies.
- Drive quality improvements to meet and exceed KPIs with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.
- Process & Change Management:
- Ensure suppliers have exceptionally robust processes and procedures to promote mass industrialization through efficient and seamless production of high-quality products.
- Monitor supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes.
- Facilitate change management for product architecture requests.
- Support NCR (Non-Conformance Report) resolution and warranty claim mitigation.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner with Supply Chain to escalate and resolve issues promptly.
- Facilitate technical requirement alignment between Suppliers and Scout's Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams.
- Collaborate with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to define performance specs and supplier metrics.
- Work cross-functionally across Scout departments to ensure seamless execution.
- Audits & Compliance:
- Conduct supplier audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Participate in supplier reviews, including new supplier onboarding and design-for-manufacturability assessments.
- Innovation & Cost Optimization:
- Lead supplier improvements in cost, quality, and manufacturability.
- Facilitate adoption of new or alternative materials to enhance design robustness, quality, and cost efficiency
- Leadership & Representation:
- Represent Scout with professionalism and respect during supplier interactions.
- Lead and champion Scout's quality expectations to ensure KPIs are consistently met.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
- The responsibilities of this role requireattendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
- Travel: Domestic and international travel required, approximately 40-70% of the time. Valid driver's license required. Passport required

- Education/Certifications: A bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field); master's degree preferred.
- Years of Experience required in type of role: 3 – 5 years of experience in a supplier quality role preferably in an automotive environment.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
- VDA Auditing Experience preferred.
- Experience in Quality Systems a plus: In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection; PPAP/APQP/ VDA processes
- Excellent operations experience and very good understanding of the vehicle assembly/ functionality as a whole.
- Proven results and ability to direct supplier activities at the management level to ensure suppliers can meet customer requirements and expectations.
- Proven ability to execute project management techniques.
- Certification in AIAG Core Tools- MSA, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, a high level of assertiveness as well as entrepreneurial thinking and goal- and result-oriented decision-making skills.
- Leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Very good technical understanding and sound specialist knowledge of vehicle development, vehicle production, and supply chain management.
- Strong technical writing ability using SPC and data analysis as well as an ability to explain complex issues concisely and plainly.
- Understanding of IATF, VDA, ISO, DIN, and regulatory requirements
- Understanding of safety requirements.
- Sound knowledge of quality management and methodologies.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 40-70% of the time.
- Valid driver's license required.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $95,000.00 - $120,000.00
