What You’ll Be Doing

The Operational Risk Senior Engineer leads on business continuity by preparing, coordinating, and maintaining robust contingency and continuity plans, while supporting operational risk mitigation, providing technical support to the Transmission Stores Team, and working with the Operational Risk Lead Engineer to keep the Operational Risk Register accurate and up to date.

  • Regularly track, review, and update the Transmission Operations Risk Register, ensuring the Technical Risk Register reflects current operational issues.
  • Manage the review and updating of Business Continuity Plans for Operations, including Black Start and other key Transmission Emergency Plans.
  • Contribute to the testing of Emergency and Business Continuity Plans and support the delivery of operational drills to ensure readiness across Transmission Operations.
  • Provide technical support to the Transmission Stores team, including strategic stock level management, inventory management, stock ordering, and assessment of stock condition to maintain equipment readiness.
  • Provide support and guidance across the Operational Risk Team as required.
  • Develop contingency plans for Transmission substations by identifying potential risks, required resources, and practical mitigation measures
  • Collate progress reports for faults and unplanned system events, considering the broader operational risk position.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on incident progress and complete post‑fault reviews to capture lessons learned.


What You’ll Bring

  • Strong working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures, and operational practices, including health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to design, assess, and refine operational processes and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Preferably, operational experience in Transmission or Distribution environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to develop effective solutions to complex challenges.


As a Minimum, You Will Demonstrate

  • HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience working within energy networks or similar operational environments.
  • Sound understanding of policies, procedures, and operational frameworks.
