CSD (Communication System Diagnosis) is a new team in SPEN Network Digitalisation responsible for the design, development and deployment of the Secondary Communications network to support and enable SPEN’s investment programmes.

This role will involve supporting the CSD Senior Engineers across all SPEN License areas in delivering and monitoring NCPs, LVMs and ANM.

Monitoring health of network, remote restoration and field defect management across contractors and SPEN staff.

This Project Engineer Role would be suitable for a wide range of technical backgrounds including Telecom, IP Networks, Automation and Network Management experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support NCP modernisation and LV Monitors across all SPEN licence areas.
  • Commissioning of devices being deployed currently across all SPEN License areas, including 4G routers, ANM devices and LV Monitors
  • Asset management of devices utilising management tools for remote restoration and defect management.
  • Provide health reports on the network devices, identify issues and trends
  • Fault management, engaging with both internal and external parties for fault resolution
  • Ensuring Network Telecom and Modern Device asset management is compliant with the Network & Information System Regulations


What You’ll Bring

  • Knowledge of operational telecoms networks and architectures including legacy and modern data transmission and networking technologies, wireless and mobile.
  • Knowledge of the NIS regulations and the wider regulatory framework.
  • Experience in asset management within a utility environment.
  • Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions
  • Qualified to HNC or equivalent in Electrical or Telecoms Engineering or suitable experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience ideally gained through technical, development, operations or network management roles


Minimum Requirements

  • Engineering/Professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a project development or operational role
  • Computer literacy
  • SAP proficiency
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Valid UK Full Driving Licence
