The Programme Unit Manager will lead the delivery of CAPEX programmes focused on 33kV and 132kV electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with security standards and operational excellence. The role also includes managing deliverables within the Renewables estate across England and Wales, supporting the transition to a low-carbon energy system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme Delivery:
    • Oversee end-to-end delivery of high-voltage (33kV & 132kV) projects within agreed timeframes, budgets, and quality standards
    • Ensure alignment with corporate security requirements and regulatory obligations
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Engage with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
    • Provide clear communication and reporting to senior leadership and regulatory bodies
  • Financial Control:
    • Manage CAPEX budgets effectively, ensuring cost efficiency and accurate forecasting
    • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions where necessary
  • Risk & Compliance:
    • Identify and mitigate risks related to security, safety, and operational integrity
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, health & safety regulations, and environmental policies
  • Renewables Integration:
    • Support delivery of projects within renewable energy sites, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure
    • Drive innovation and sustainability in project design and execution
Minimum Criteria

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in programme or project management within the energy or utilities sector
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems (33kV & 132kV) and associated security standards
  • Experience managing CAPEX budgets and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Familiarity with renewable energy projects and grid integration
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across geographically dispersed locations
  • Commitment to safety, security, and sustainability


Desirable

  • Professional qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2, or PMP
  • Substation authorisation
