The People Analytics Manager will lead on the development and delivery of ScottishPower’s People Analytics Strategy and drive forward the change from traditional ways of working, where People Analytics has been task-oriented, to one where People Analytics is a key driver of projects and is a strategic unit within People.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop a people analytics strategy for the People function, identifying opportunities for analytics and insights to add value to the SP business
  • Define and implement a long-term roadmap for people analytics within People, using influencing skills to gain commitment from senior leaders and wider People function
  • Lead analytics projects, or project workstreams, identifying the most appropriate use of analytics and insights to achieve project objectives
  • Undertake analysis, provide insights and make recommendations that will enable business leaders to make long-term strategic decisions (e.g. workforce planning, cost savings, process analysis, service improvements)
  • Establish People Analytics as a centre of excellence and reputable point of contact for the delivery of solutions to business, strategic and operational challenges as well as for guidance, advice and effective resolution to all data and analytics issues
  • Identify opportunities to improve process, technology and reporting and work with consultancy resources and People systems team to automate completed pieces of work
  • Develop a framework and processes which facilitate appropriate governance on analytics projects across the People function
  • Act as a subject matter expert within data analytics, coaching and supporting colleagues across the function to ensure delivery of People Analytics strategy as well as business-as-usual activity
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders across People, understanding their deliverables to establish where the People Analytics team can help and support achievement of their goals
  • Be an advocate of rigour and discipline in ways of working with data, developing single source of the truth/data repository and streamlined dataflows.


What You'll Bring

  • Graduate in a STEM field
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Practical experience of working research and applying the scientific method in either an academic or industrial/business environment
  • Solid understanding in the foundations of Data Science (statistics and coding)
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting and commercial drivers
  • Track record of effective stakeholder engagement and management, with the ability to positively influence
  • Data storytelling – able to communicate effectively at all levels both orally and in writing and present information effectively and meaningfully, taking account of the audience
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and think differently
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound judgement to determine practical options and solutions
  • Capability to manage and influence challenging discussions / situations at all levels
  • Work across the entire People function, identifying gaps or opportunities for People analytics to enhance the service delivered by People
  • Provide direction and coaching across the People function dealing with complex issues and conflicting priorities whilst developing their ability to see connections and manage risks
  • Contingency planning at short notice to assess and deliver key activities as and when they arise
  • Problem solving across broad range of People Analytics activities


Minimum Criteria

  • Educated to degree level in a STEM or related area
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Power Query
  • Working knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with enterprise BI tools such as MicroStrategy
  • Strong ability to translate data into compelling insights and narratives
  • Project management experience, with a strong performance ethos and a track record of driving and delivering projects and initiatives
  • Solid understanding in the foundations of Data Science
  • While practical experience of People Analytics is not mandatory, must have an interest and be willing to learn
  • Practical experience of financial accounting
  • Practical experience of research
