The Occupational Hygienist will be responsible for delivering a strong industrial health prevention programme through identifying and managing all occupational hygiene hazards and risks across each Business (Renewables, Networks & Retail). This will ensure that each Business has been given the correct information and advice to mitigate and control those risks, remaining legally compliant against all industrial health-based legislation. By working closely with the Director for Occupational Health, Hygiene and Wellbeing, the Occupational Hygiene Manager will provide the basis for a complete and holistic health and wellbeing programme based upon scientific data, industry knowledge and experience.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide professional leadership and direction to each Business in relation to the identification, management and prevention of industrial health risks that could cause reputational damage to ScottishPower
- Deputise for the Director of Occupational Health Hygiene and Wellbeing when required
- Assist the Director of Occupational Health Hygiene and Wellbeing in development and management of all occupational health & hygiene contracts for the department
- Establish and lead the delivery of the Strategic Operating Plan that delivers to each Business operational compliance with health-based legislation, including the Preventative Action Plan
- Establish links with the relevant business department to ensure all staff are provided with suitable information, instruction and training pertinent to their health risks
- Lead engagement on behalf of ScottishPower with key industry stakeholders, HSE, ENA, G+, SafetyOn and the Energy Institute on strategic industry risks and be able to influence the direction towards better industrial health provision across the energy sector
- Present findings in a clear and concise manner from detailed studies to Senior Executive/Management to influence change and maintain Scottish Power’s lead in this field
- Be able to provide professional advice to legal teams in the event of HSE intervention or personal injury claims
- Chartered Member of BOHS, holding Diploma in Occupational Hygiene
- Experience in managing Occupational Hygiene risks and recommending improvements
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to influence senior management to implement change
- Ability to prioritise projects and meet deadlines
- Develop a wide range of professional working relationships, including a range of industry bodies
- Comprehensive understanding of UK Health based legislation and guidance
- Good knowledge of general occupational hygiene management systems and technical field practices
- Degree educated, Life Science or Engineering
- Chartered member of BOHS (Diploma Level)
- Notable experience in management of policy
- NEBOSH Certificate & IOSH membership
- Notable experience in enacting change at a senior level
- As there is adhoc travel required with this role, the successful candidate will have a UK Driving License
