Monitoring and Observability Lead
Location: Glasgow – hybrid working
Salary: £61-77K (plus up to 15% bonus and private healthcare cover)
Permanent, Full Time
Help us create a better future, quicker
We’re hiring an experienced Monitoring Lead to take full ownership of our end‑to‑end monitoring operations across infrastructure, networks, applications, and services. In this hybrid role, you’ll act as the central point of accountability for proactive detection, escalation, and resolution of incidents, safeguarding service health and ensuring alignment with organisational standards. You’ll oversee our monitoring processes, tooling, and team performance to keep the ecosystem reliable, effective, and continuously improving
What you’ll be doing
You bring strong technical expertise in enterprise monitoring, including BMC Patrol, Helix, Elastic, Entuity, NetScout, and cloud‑native monitoring across AWS and Azure. You have a solid grounding in ITIL or equivalent service‑management frameworks, with a practical understanding of infrastructure, application, and network monitoring concepts. You’re comfortable with automation, alerting, and event‑management best practices, and you communicate clearly with stakeholders at every level. Proven leadership in technical or monitoring teams, a calm, solutions‑focused approach under pressure, and the ability to set standards, govern processes, and drive continuous improvement will set you up for success. Strong vendor‑management capability and analytical thinking for post‑incident and trend analysis round out your profile.
What you’ll bring
Day to day, you’ll guide and support internal analysts while building a strong working relationship with our third‑party monitoring provider to ensure high‑quality delivery and seamless collaboration. You’ll shape and govern standardised monitoring practices—from defining alert thresholds and escalation paths to refining workflows and championing automation that elevates our capabilities. Working closely with our Observability Practice and platform teams, you’ll help keep our tooling healthy, current, and aligned to best‑practice lifecycle management. Your leadership will extend into post‑incident activity, contributing to root cause analysis, providing actionable insights, and reducing recurrence. You’ll manage vendor relationships, participate in governance forums, and maintain clear transparency on performance through dashboards, scorecards, and operational reporting that support senior decision‑making.
What’s In It For You
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
