This role will lead the Financial and Performance Management capability in Digital Transformation, transitioning the organisation to an automated outcome‑focused insight-driven function. The role holder will own the strategic management and optimisation of IT spend and value - aligning budgets and multi‑year investments to technology roadmaps and business objectives; embedding cost transparency with business driver analysis for decision making, drive KPI‑led performance reporting and value-add/ cost-benefit feedback in close partnership with DT, Finance, and the Business.

What You'll Be Doing
- Strategic Planning and optimisation of totex £120m:
- Work with Digital Transformation Leadership and the Business to develop strategic and annual financial plans aligned to technology roadmaps and business objectives
- Optimise the value from investment, supporting business case creation and decision-making, considering different investment options
- Work with Digital Transformation and PMO teams to validate the approach and optimisation behind the allocation of IT resources (budget, personnel, technology) across different projects, departments, and initiatives
- Performance Measurement and Reporting:
- Establish KPIs to support decisions and measure the effectiveness/ efficiency of IT investments and operations
- Track IT performance against KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and taking corrective actions
- Manage benchmarking activity for external comparison and identification of areas for improvement
- Process Improvement and Automation:
- Leverage data analytics to gain deeper insights into IT spending and performance, to support more informed decisions to the management team
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate and streamline aspects of Financial and Performance Management Reporting
- Utilise change management approaches to embed changes to cost and performance management across Digital Transformation
- Stakeholder management & Business Partnership:
- Build strong relationships with senior managers across the various arms of the organisation and their teams, acting as a liaison between operational DT departments and the IT Office
- Proven experience leading IT Financial and Performance Management in complex, large organisations
- Strong understanding of IT functions/departments and the typical layers of an IT estate (e.g. infrastructure, storage, applications etc.)
- Ability to interpret business strategy and apply to an IT function, especially when reviewing IT change portfolios
- Experience in risk, issue and dependency management for investment decisions and financial outcomes
- Knowledge of cloud economics/FinOps (cost allocation, tagging hygiene, unit economics, rightsizing/commitments) linked to Financial and Performance KPIs
- Ability to manage a range of complex relationships both internally and externally, often against a backdrop of conflicting aims and priorities
- Proven ability to deal with some level of ambiguity and incomplete data to ensure it is used effectively in the decision-making processes
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills at all levels of the organisation
- Degree educated and/or with relevant professional accounting qualifications
- Computer literate with significant experience and expertise in the use of spreadsheets for reporting and modelling
- Experience with IT Financial management and data tooling (e.g., Apptio, PowerBI, Service Now)
- Proven Financial Management / TBM leadership experience
- Understanding of IT functions and enterprise technologies
- Commercial awareness and experience
