Job Title: Innovation Change Lead – Black Belt

Location: Glasgow, SPHQ

Salary from £52,400 to £65,500 + up to 20% bonus + Car Allowance + Private Medical

The Innovation Change Lead will sit within Future Networks, supporting the delivery and adoption of digital and physical innovation solutions across Transmission and Distribution.

Future Networks is expanding its innovation portfolio significantly, with over £20.45m NIA funding secured for RIIO-T3 and an expected > 50% growth forecast for RIIO[1]ED3. The team also plans to further evolve its existing IF portfolio of more than £30m.

This step-change requires dedicated capacity to embed innovation solutions into BAU consistently and measurably.

You Will Work Across Business Areas To

  • Enable effective transition of high-TRL innovation into operational practice
  • Lead Projects Delivery, Business Readiness, BAU adoption and benefits realisation
  • Strengthen SPEN’s performance under RIIO and regulatory frameworks such as the IMF and RRP


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Drive structured business change to support SPEN’s innovation, regulatory and operational goals.
  • Lead business-side adoption of new tools, processes and technologies from the innovation portfolio.
  • Build strong relationships and manage stakeholders at all organisational levels to achieve buy-in and adoption.
  • Lead the people-side of change using structured Prosci Change Management methodology.
  • Conduct change impact assessments, define TO-BE processes, and develop deployment & adoption roadmaps.
  • Lead successful delivery of Innovation Projects, and facilitate a sustainable Innovation Portfolio.
  • Provide training, communications and onboarding support to BAU teams throughout adoption cycles.
  • Define, establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate change success and ensure benefits realisation.
  • Develop, maintain and report benefits cases and measurable benefits realisation across the innovation portfolio.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration supporting Innovation, Business, Transformation, NP&R and operational areas.
  • Model continuous improvement, challenge the status quo and champion innovation-driven performance uplift.
  • Operate with agility to respond to evolving business and regulatory drivers.
  • Identify risks and issues that may affect adoption, proactively mitigating them to prevent deployment delays


What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Technical discipline, or minimum 5 years relevant business experience.
  • Experience using Change Management, Agile, Lean, or related improvement methods.
  • Previously accredited or willing to work towards:
    • Lean, Six Sigma, Black Belt
    • Prosci Change Practitioner, Agile Scrum Master
  • Demonstrable experience leading business change and managing cross functional stakeholders.
  • Evidence of planning, organising and delivering work on time.
  • Experience leveraging resources beyond direct line control, ideally in large organisations.
  • Strong experience implementing change within a complex or multidisciplinary organisation.
  • Knowledge of the Energy sector (preferred).
  • Experience supporting BAU readiness, adoption and embedding of digital/innovation solutions.
  • Ability to set stretch goals, manage deadlines, and align work with regulatory/business priorities.
  • Ability to influence without authority and leverage subject matter experts.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communications and facilitation skills.
  • Professional, ethical, transparent, and able to build trust quickly.
  • Comfortable working across varied technical and non-technical topics.
  • Data-driven approach to problem solving with an agile mindset.
  • Ability to anticipate risks and proactively identify mitigations.
  • Keen understanding of innovation benefits categories and performance tracking.
  • Familiarity with digitalisation, operational systems and data insights.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to other SPEN sites as required.
