Purpose

The ScottishPower Compliance Unit (SP Compliance) is an independent function of ScottishPower, responsible for overseeing the effectiveness of the Compliance Programme across the Company. SP Compliance is responsible for promoting high standards of ethical and compliant behaviour across the organisation, through the implementation, development, and promotion of the Compliance Unit Regulations. The Compliance Programme encompasses promoting and embedding the Code of Conduct, Crime Prevention including Anti-Bribery, Corruption and Fraud, and management of the Ethics Mailbox.

The Compliance Programme Analyst will work with the Corporate Compliance team and Business Compliance Officers to ensure the co-ordination, maintenance, and delivery of Compliance programme activity and reporting. The Analyst will be responsible for ensuring that all compliance diligence and control activity is carried out appropriately and in accordance with the procedures established by SP Compliance and the Group Compliance Unit.

The Compliance Programme Analyst is also responsible for the coordination and production of all Compliance Programme related data and statistics for Compliance reports at Group, Company, and sub-holding level, along with reporting to external parties, as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective and timely completion of compliance procedures, including third party alert monitoring and diligence, background check activity, and any other programme controls
  • Monitor and manage the dedicated Compliance Unit mailbox, ensuring all contacts are appropriately dealt with and responded to in a timely manner
  • Support and actively contribute to the preparation and delivery of SP Compliance reporting requirements, including for senior level governance fora
  • Ensure accurate records of all Compliance Programme Activity are maintained, kept up to date, and can be appropriately evidenced, within the COMPLETE Compliance system
  • Review, update and maintain, appropriate programme procedure documentation, to support programme controls and any audit requirements
  • Manage all SAP purchase-to-pay processes to support use of annual SP Compliance budget
  • Work with the Business Compliance Officers, as required, to provide administrative support with the scheduling and delivery of business-specific compliance programme activity
  • Regular review of the Compliance data processes to identify and implement potential areas for improvement to maintain a robust, efficient reporting framework
  • Engage with, and maintain good relationships with, Group-wide Compliance teams in order to drive continuous improvement in local activity and reporting
  • Support and actively contribute to the development and delivery of SP Compliance training, communications, and awareness activity


Skills & Experience

  • Well organised, with a structured approach to workload management and prioritisation, and ability to work effectively under pressure
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity, and ability to manage confidential and sensitive information confidently and securely
  • Strong judgement, analysis, and reasoning skills, with ability to assess risk and mitigations quickly and effectively
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Numerically articulate with strong attention to detail
  • Experience in preparing data analysis, reports, and presentations with ability to summarize key information.
  • Good commercial awareness, so that the post-holder can quickly grasp impacts of compliance
  • Strong knowledge and experience of working with the Microsoft suite of applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Working knowledge and understanding of business requirements, in the context of corporate structure
  • Good awareness of risk control environments and compliance frameworks would be beneficial
  • Working understanding of the UK legislative framework and industry requirements in relation to compliance would be beneficial
  • Good working knowledge of SAP purchase-to-pay processes would be beneficial


Minimum Criteria

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • General awareness of risk and ability to assess and manage risk, applying sound judgement to make informed decisions based on available information
  • Strong numerical and analysis capability
  • Strong Excel skills with experience building pivot tables and analysing large volumes of data
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
