We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager (Lead Engineer) within our Design & Development House Department. This strategic role leads a team of Senior Engineers in designing and developing network projects and programmes over a 5-year horizon. You’ll ensure robust, coordinated plans that enable efficient delivery of investment and modernisation projects across SP Manweb’s licence area.
A key focus will be overhead line (OHL) design and modernisation programmes aligned to the ED2 price plan, ensuring compliance with regulatory commitments and optimising value for customers and stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and develop a team of Senior Engineers to deliver high-quality network designs and programmes.
- Manage strategic programmes for OHL modernisation, storm resilience, and other critical initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
- Drive innovation by introducing new technologies and solutions, supported by cost-benefit analysis.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety legislation.
- Oversee contractor engagement and programme delivery without compromising safety or quality.
- Contribute to long-term network planning and regulatory performance targets.
- Engineering or project/programme management background within the utilities, energy, or construction sectors.
- Proven experience managing, motivating, and developing teams to deliver business outputs.
- Strong project/programme management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment, including output and incentive mechanisms.
- Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgment.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at all levels.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer service, efficient network design, and maximum return on investment.
