This role sits within SP Manweb (SPM), which covers Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, and parts of Shropshire. As part of this business, you’ll play a critical role in delivering safe and reliable electricity to hundreds of thousands of customers while supporting our £3.3 billion RIIO-ED2 Business Plan to prepare the UK for an electric future.
As Head of Delivery (SPM Wirral District), you’ll lead a multi-disciplined team and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of connections projects across the Wirral district.

As Head of Delivery (SPM Wirral District), you’ll lead a multi-disciplined team and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of connections projects across the Wirral district.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a leadership role with real impact. You’ll:
- Lead and inspire a team to deliver business outputs, ensuring each individual’s potential is fully developed.
- Analyse business performance to ensure compliance with costs and output deliverables, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Implement robust stakeholder and customer interfaces, ensuring effective communication of short, medium, and long-term plans that affect local communities.
- Deliver short-term (6–12 weeks) and medium-term (3–12 months) plans aligned with district objectives, minimising outages and maintaining network security.
- Ensure compliance with SPEN processes and procedures in line with regulatory and licence obligations.
- Collaborate with other District management teams to achieve wider SPEN Licence objectives.
- Drive performance against key targets, including:
- Customer Minutes Lost
- Customer Interruptions
- Broad Measure of Customer Satisfaction
- Guaranteed Standards
- Time to Connect and other incentive mechanisms
- Promote exemplary health and safety culture, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of all works.
- Manage depot activities and responsibilities to ensure effective local operations.
- Deliver outputs, optimising system performance and customer service incentives while meeting financial and regulatory objectives.
- Expert knowledge of construction and maintenance standards within a regulated environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing contracts and SLAs.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams.
- Project/programme management experience and a track record of delivering complex initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering leadership role within utilities.
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience in managing both minor and major projects
- Operational experience on electrical networks up to 33kV (advantageous).
- Full UK driving licence.
