Create a better future, quicker!

At ScottishPower Energy Networks, we’re investing billions to transform how energy is delivered across the UK — enabling net zero, supporting economic growth and keeping communities connected. Behind every major infrastructure decision sits strong commercial and financial insight, and that’s where this role comes in.

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to join our business and play a critical role in shaping how we plan, control and challenge financial performance across a significant portfolio of investment.

This is a high impact role with real visibility, offering the opportunity to influence senior decision making, lead a talented team and work at the heart of a business delivering nationally important outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Commercial Finance Manager, you’ll step into a senior, hands-on role with ownership of financial governance, insight and regulatory reporting across a £300m investment portfolio.

Working directly with senior leaders, you’ll apply your technical and analytical expertise to real commercial decisions — challenging assumptions, driving efficiencies and seeing the direct impact of your work. You’ll also lead and develop a high performing team, offering a clear transition from advisory into a role with long-term ownership, leadership responsibility and career progression.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working at scale, influencing decisions and making a tangible impact through insight and leadership.

  • A fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) with a strong commercial finance background and the confidence to operate at senior levels.
  • Experience leading or managing teams in a fast paced, commercially focused environment, with a passion for developing people and building high performing teams.
  • Proven experience delivering high quality financial insight, including budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis and commercial challenge.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to cut through complexity, connect the dots and focus on what really matters.
  • Confidence working with large, interconnected data sets, translating complexity into clear, actionable recommendations for decisionmakers.
  • A decisive, resilient approach — able to prioritise, manage competing demands and deliver under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders across finance and the wider business.
  • Strong systems capability, comfortable using financial and reporting tools to drive insight, control and improvement.
  • A curious, forward-thinking mindset — someone who challenges the status quo, looks for better ways of working and brings fresh thinking to complex problems.
  • It is great if you have experience in a regulated environment such as utilities, infrastructure or public sector — or a genuine interest in developing this experience.

What’s In It For You

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy several other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
