We are seeking an experienced Environmental Monitoring Consultant Engineer with a solid technical background and a strong commercial vision to join our multidisciplinary team. As our Environmental Monitoring Consultant Engineer, you will design, coordinate and implement environmental monitoring projects within the SFC portfolio.


ROLE DESCRIPTION


The Environmental Monitoring Consultant Engineer will act as a technician, project manager and consultant and will take full responsibility of Air Quality, climate and sustainability projects - European, national or local projects -within the Operations Direction, consistent with his/her experience and training. As an integral part of the Sustainability Area, the person will pursue and promote new projects to contribute to its growth and to the global company’s strategy. 


Project Management

  • Project Leadership & Coordination: Lead and coordinate complex environmental, air quality and climate monitoring projects from initiation to closure, including defining objectives, detailed planning, resource allocation, timeline management, implementation and follow-up - guaranteeing excellence and timely delivery in the complete project cycle. The right candidate will take full responsibility of the technical tasks implementation, including designing monitoring plans using traditional and citizen science methodologies, sensor/App/technology selection, data collection and analysis, and technology transfer towards society, environmental policies and the market. The selected candidate will also take full responsibility of App and technology development and maintenance in coordination with the external team of developers, including the design of new functionalities for meeting client or project requirements, the interoperability of data and any other related tasks. He/She will also coordinate with the allocated Operations team to guide their contribution to the projects while guaranteeing technical compliance.
  • Partner Liaison: Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, external partners (universities, public administrations, communities), and national/international funding bodies. These functions include the follow-up of the work and compliance with the established deadlines, the contact with the European consortium partners and/or clients, the presentation of the projects in events, the attendance to consortium meetings, the preparation of deliverables, dissemination articles and scientific papers, according to the needs and requirements of the project.
  • Grant Compliance, Excellence & Reporting: Ensure strict adherence to grant requirements and reporting guidelines for projects funded by various agencies (e.g., European Commission, Catalan or Spanish government, etc.), while guaranteeing excellence in the deliverables. Prepare technical reports and support the financial reporting of funded projects. 
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact Assessment: Follow and comply with key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor project progress, evaluate outcomes, and assess the overall impact on sustainability goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth execution and successful delivery.
  • Communication & Dissemination: Contribute to the effective communication and dissemination of project results and impact to diverse audiences, including writing papers, attendance to scientific conferences and/or sectoral fairs, writing blog articles or posts for social networks, etc.
  • Business Development: Contribute to identifying new funding opportunities, synergies or other paths of collaboration, both at the private and public level, and to the design of new projects answering them. Contribute to increasing the client portfolio of the company, while maintaining and following up the existing one in relation to the Sustainability Area, to comply with its KPIs and to contribute to the overall strategy of the company.


Promotion of new projects within the Sustainability Area

  • Market Transfer: Contribute to the valorization and transfer to the market, to public policies and to society, of the methodologies and technologies developed by SFC in the Sustainability Area, by chasing collaboration agreements and new private projects with research organisations and clients.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with external partners (universities, public administrations, private companies, NGOs…) to explore and materialise new business opportunities with the support of the Team Leader, the Operations Director and the CEO.
  • Proposal Writing: Contribute to the development of proposals, private offers and technical bids to answer to public or private calls or new business opportunities and enlarge the SFC portfolio. 



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


  • A Master's degree or a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Monitoring, air quality and sensory analysis, climate, gas measurements, odours, and/or noise. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in managing complex projects, preferably in environmental monitoring, air quality and sensory analysis, gas measurements, climate, odours, and/or noise.
  • Solid understanding of environmental monitoring, air quality, sensory analysis, gas measurements, odours and/or noise.
  • Knowledge and applied experience with use of statistical software (preferably R).
  • Knowledge of the waste, wastewater, biogas, chemical, petrochemical and food markets. 
  • Training in GIS, Dispersion Modelling, air quality, sensoring and climate monitoring will be highly valued.
  • Knowledge of Python or other programming languages is a plus. 
  • Previous experience in App development for environmental monitoring, including, but not limited to, citizen science, is highly valuable.
  • Specific training in project management will be considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of European funding programmes (HE, H2020, Interreg, Eurostars, Life+, Erasmus+, Creative Europe), as well as national (CDTI, FECYT, Next Generation) and regional (Catalonia) funding instruments.
  • Experience in managing projects funded by European frameworks and national funds will be highly valued, preferably in scientific or consultancy environments.
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish, English and Catalan.

WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week).
  • Contract: Permanent, with a 6-month probation period.
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and skills.
  • Start Date: February 2026.
