Job Title: Construction Manager – Solar & BESS (EPC)

Location: Texas (Pre-Construction Phase) based in Houston → Transition to Project Site in the New Mexico in September (Travel Required)

Salary: $140,000 to $155,000 + Per Diem when in New Mexico (GSA Rates) + Full Benefits

Samuel Knight Energy & Infrastructure is the leading recruitment partner to utility-scale renewable energy EPCs across the United States, with more live opportunities in Solar & BESS construction than any other specialist.

We are currently supporting a well-established EPC contractor delivering utility-scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage projects across the U.S. This organization has built a strong reputation for executing complex, high-value energy infrastructure projects with a focus on safety, quality, and long-term client partnerships.

This opportunity offers a unique structure — you will initially be based in the Houston office through the pre-construction and mobilization phase, before transitioning to a full-time site leadership role on a major project in the Southwest from September onwards. The project location is positioned in a scenic, remote part of New Mexico, offering strong per diem support and a true “build from the ground up” leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead EPC construction execution for utility-scale Solar and BESS projects
  • Coordinate Superintendents, Foremen, Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Drive project schedule, productivity, cost tracking, and overall project controls
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals for constructability
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, QA/QC, HSE, and contractual requirements
  • Support client reporting, progress tracking, and project invoicing
  • Oversee materials, logistics, equipment allocation, and field planning
  • Act as the on-site leader, setting standards for safety, performance, and team culture

Requirements

  • 5+ years of construction leadership experience within utility-scale energy or heavy infrastructure
  • Strong electrical background (Solar and/or BESS highly preferred)
  • Proven experience managing field operations and leading multi-disciplinary site teams
  • Experience working for an EPC contractor delivering large-scale projects
  • Ability to work in Houston through September before mobilizing to site
  • Willingness to travel and work on a remote project location
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, and cost management

Compensation & Benefits

  • $145,000 base salary
  • Per diem provided during Houston phase (if outside local area)
  • Full per diem provided on project site at GSA rates
  • Full benefits package
  • Long-term pipeline of projects with continued progression opportunities

This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to take ownership of a major Solar & BESS build and play a key role in delivering critical energy infrastructure.

If you’re looking for a position where you can lead from the front, be on site, and deliver meaningful projects — this is it.
