Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Service Line Leader (SLL) to lead our team of energy and environmental professionals specializing in resilience and energy security, energy optimization and efficiency, decarbonization strategy and implementation, energy audits, large-scale energy management programs, facility condition assessments, climate and natural disaster risk assessments, real estate due diligence, and environmental consulting services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality consulting services, driving strategic initiatives, ensuring client satisfaction and meeting key performance indicators for the profit and loss (P&L) and growth of the Service Line.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management: The SLL must have strong leadership and team management skills to guide and support a diverse team of consultants. This includes fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, providing professional development opportunities, and ensuring that the team is motivated and aligned with the organization's goals. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are also crucial for building trust and maintaining strong relationships within the team.
  • Driving Growth: The ability to develop and implement strategic plans is essential for the SLL. This involves aligning the Service Line with the Federal Division’s organizational goals, identifying new business opportunities, and staying abreast of industry trends. The SLL must be a strategic thinker who can manage the financials of the business, make informed decisions, manage risks, and ensure that projects are executed effectively and meet client expectations.
  • Technical Expertise and Industry Knowledge: The SLL needs to have a deep understanding of the various areas the team specializes in. This technical expertise allows the SLL to provide strategic guidance, ensure compliance with regulations, and deliver high-quality consulting services that meet client needs.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a diverse team of consultants, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Client Engagement: Lead by example by bringing, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and partner throughout the project development lifecycle. Ensure that clients' needs are met and their expectations are exceeded.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the implementation of projects across various domains, ensuring that projects are executed effectively and meet client expectations. Monitor project progress, address issues, and ensure adherence to best practices. Ensure work is performed safely, ethically, within budget, according to client requirements and schedule and with exceptional quality.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the service line, aligning with organizational goals and market conditions. Identify new business opportunities and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team. Leverage specialized knowledge and an outside perspective to solve complex problems and enhance the team's capabilities.
  • P&L Management: Manage the Profit and Loss (P&L) for the service line, ensuring financial targets are met. This includes budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure profitability and sustainability for two related portfolios (ECR and ES).

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or willingness to obtain
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Environmental, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of relevant post education experience in discipline, and in a leadership, management consulting, or client advisory capacity.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Federal, State, and Local Government business development experience.
  • Experience owning and managing a large and complex portfolio.
  • Ability to clearly define, refine, train, and manage teams in the implementation of internal processes and controls associated with accounting, human resources (e.g., interviewing, onboarding, goal setting, personnel development), contracting and compliance, work safety and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a complex strategic vision and translate its pursuit into actionable tactics, actions, and objectives.
  • Executive level communication and presentation skills.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Business Energy Professional (BEP), or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA).
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP), in either the United States Green Building Council’s LEED New Construction and Major Renovation or the LEED Existing Building Maintenance and Operations examination tracks, or an equivalent designation.

Location: Remote or Hybrid, depending on location

Travel: up to 20%

Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000
