GIS Analyst for AI Model Evaluation
Role Overview
GIS Analysts apply hands-on expertise in environmental assessment, GIS analysis, and renewable energy siting to evaluate AI-generated geospatial outputs and develop expert training data that improves AI understanding of environmental workflows and mapping practices. This is a flexible, hourly contract engagement you can perform remotely alongside other work.
Key Responsibilities- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses, maps, and geospatial analyses for technical accuracy and relevance to real-world environmental and siting workflows.
- Provide detailed, actionable feedback to improve AI outputs and help create expert-level training examples.
- Use your practical knowledge of typical field and office processes to flag errors, edge cases, and best-practice approaches in environmental assessment and renewable energy siting.
- Document review findings and follow guidance from research teams while working independently and asynchronously.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in environmental analysis, GIS, or renewable energy siting.
- Relevant roles include, but are not limited to, Environmental Analyst, GIS Analyst, Interconnection Specialist, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: ArcGIS, Oracle MDM, Aurora Solar.
- Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on asynchronous review tasks.
- No prior artificial intelligence experience is required.
- Engagement type: part-time, hourly contract work.
- Location: fully remote.
- Schedule: flexible, asynchronous work; there is no minimum hour requirement.
- Typical commitment when participating in an active project is approximately 5-20 hours per week.
- Placement on projects depends on current project needs; contributors may be considered for additional projects as new opportunities become available.
- Up to $85/hr (depending on the project), paid for hours worked under the contract.
