Energy Project Estimation Specialist for AI Evaluation
Role Overview
Pre-construction Managers apply their energy project estimation, construction planning, and solar design experience to evaluate AI-generated content and create expert-level training data. In this contract role you will review AI outputs for accuracy and relevance, provide corrective feedback, and help improve how AI systems understand project development workflows and cost estimation methods.
Key Responsibilities- Use hands-on knowledge of energy project estimation, pre-construction workflows, and solar design to assess AI-generated responses.
- Create and annotate expert training data based on real-world project scenarios and tools you use daily.
- Provide detailed feedback on accuracy, completeness, and relevance of AI outputs, including cost estimates and construction planning guidance.
- Work independently and communicate findings to AI research teams via written evaluations.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction, or solar design.
- Relevant roles include Estimator, Project Engineer, Pre-construction Manager, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent positions in the energy industry.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Bluebeam Revu, RSMeans, Aurora Solar.
- Strong written communication, high attention to detail, and ability to work asynchronously and independently with remote research teams.
- No prior AI experience required.
- Engagement type: hourly contract work, part-time.
- Location: fully remote.
- Schedule: flexible, asynchronous; there is no minimum-hour requirement.
- Typical commitment when a project is active: approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
- This is an ongoing, project-based engagement that can be taken alongside other work and commitments.
- Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, with consideration for participation in future projects as they become available.
- Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
