What you'll do:

As Project Officer - Natural Resources, Environment and Climate based in Jakarta, you will play a central role in shaping Indonesia's sustainable future by managing a diverse portfolio of projects that address critical environmental challenges. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve identifying new opportunities for impactful interventions; preparing detailed project proposals; ensuring rigorous monitoring of ongoing initiatives; coordinating with local partners; supporting technical missions; facilitating dialogue among stakeholders; overseeing compliance with regulatory frameworks; producing insightful reports; participating in sectoral platforms; and representing the organisation at high-level meetings.   • Identify and develop new project opportunities within the sectors of natural resources, environment, biodiversity, agriculture, resilience to natural hazards, and carbon finance.
  • Participate actively in the preparation, evaluation, and formalisation of projects financed through sovereign loans to the Indonesian government and non-sovereign loans to state-owned enterprises.
  • Monitor project execution comprehensively-including risk assessment-and oversee contracts awarded directly by the agency.
  • Ensure robust portfolio monitoring in terms of regulatory compliance and financial risk management in close coordination with regional middle office teams.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers in Jakarta as well as colleagues at headquarters and the regional directorate in Bangkok to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Organise and support supervisory missions for the agency or regional directorate-including technical meetings and mission debriefings-both in Jakarta and across Indonesian provinces.
  • Facilitate ongoing consultation with subsidiaries dedicated to private sector engagement and technical assistance to maximise synergies across activities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with local partners such as national authorities, public agencies, donors, research institutes, NGOs, businesses, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the organisation effectively during sectoral consultations with national authorities, service providers, technical partners, and financial institutions.
  • Coordinate cross-cutting issues including sectoral monitoring of environmental topics relevant to Indonesia and Southeast Asia (e.g., Paris Agreement implementation), while contributing to internal platforms for experience sharing.

What you bring:

  • Possess familiarity with operational procedures typical of funding agencies-including project cycles, evaluation methodologies, procurement processes and contract oversight.
  • Showcase strong interpersonal skills that enable you to foster constructive dialogue within multicultural teams as well as with external partners.
  • Exhibit adaptability when navigating complex environments or shifting priorities while maintaining focus on shared goals.
  • Display meticulous attention to detail when tracking project progress or communicating outcomes both verbally and in writing.
  • Bring excellent written and oral communication skills-including summarising complex information clearly for diverse audiences-in both Bahasa Indonesia (fluent) and English (professional proficiency). French language skills are advantageous but not essential.
  • Demonstrate understanding of how Indonesian public operators function-a valuable asset when engaging local stakeholders or navigating administrative processes.
