Description We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Stow, Ohio. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing and analyzing cost accounting activities while supporting inventory management systems. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial accuracy and operational efficiency within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
  • Assist with inventory management systems and support ongoing operational improvements.
  • Perform standard cost roll-ups and develop cost estimates for new manufacturing projects.
  • Review and analyze daily work-in-process transactions to ensure precise job costing.
  • Investigate and resolve variances related to materials, labor, scrap, and rework.
  • Prepare journal entries and execute month-end closing tasks, including inventory valuation analysis.
  • Calculate annual labor and overhead rates to aid financial planning and reporting.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and ensure adherence to accounting standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between the accounting team and other departments through effective collaboration.
  • Provide guidance to accounting clerks and assist the Controller with additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost Accounting Standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Sage software; experience with MAS500 is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to research, compile, and interpret data effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of adapting to a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
