Cost Accountant

Our client, a growing manufacturing company, is seeking a Plant Cost Accountant to play a critical role in tracking and evaluating day-to-day plant activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving operational efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to provide actionable insights that support business success. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage stock levels, review costs, perform cycle counts, and identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings.
- Prepare, analyze, and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly gross margin analysis for senior leadership.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, inventory valuation, and roll forwards.
- Coordinate with IT for system maintenance, troubleshooting, and development related to financial processes.
- Prepare detailed account analyses and reconcile sales, cost, inventory, and liability accounts.
- Review and analyze inventory and margin reports; conduct research and perform cost and profitability studies.
- Support internal reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules, and other compliance needs.
- Ensure timely submission, accuracy, and validity of inventory and gross margin schedules to management.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on cost accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and proven understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- High attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management, cost analysis, and familiarity with BI tools is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in manufacturing cost accounting and standard cost methodologies.
- Proficiency in inventory analysis and annual physical inventory processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.
- Ability to travel quarterly to other plant locations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and their role in cost accounting.
