Cost Accountant
Description We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join a Finance team in the Denmark, WI area. This role is critical for driving cost analysis, supporting operational decision-making, and partnering closely with plant operations. Key Responsibilities
- Review material and labor variances in production batches to identify cost drivers.
- Analyze gross margin reporting by customer and product for anomalies and trends.
- Compile estimates of new and proposed product costs to support pricing and profitability decisions.
- Maintain labor routings on existing items and develop labor routings for new items to ensure accurate cost flow.
- Assist in the monthly closing process: prepare journal entries, analyze inventory, and reconcile accounts.
- Track progress of cost savings initiatives and calculate ROI for capital spend projects.
- Provide financial analyses for pricing decisions, contract negotiations, and departmental expense variances.
- Collaborate with operations and IT to streamline processes and reduce manual tasks.
- Support audit and tax schedules and perform other projects as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: 3-5 years in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: Food or consumer packaged goods experience; SAP experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and Cost Accounting Standards.
- Advanced Excel and proficiency with ERP systems.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing cost accounting and partnering with operations.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and work independently while contributing to team goals.
