RMI is seeking a technical administrator to maintain, improve, and lead two of RMI’s core communication and institutional knowledge platforms: Microsoft SharePoint and Teams. This role will report to the IT Director and own all aspects of responding to SharePoint requests throughout RMI, while also working closely with the People Team (Internal Communications) and Program Services (Knowledge Management) to ensure that the functionality and features of the platform meet evolving business needs. As the subject matter expert for SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, you will respond quickly to issues that arise; as the lead technical architect, you will plan enhancements and integrations with other platforms to meet core business requirements.

SharePoint is RMI’s centralized intranet and shared document repository for the organization’s global operations. Microsoft Teams is RMI’s integrated priority messaging service. As a knowledge-based organization, and it is critical for these two systems to support and promote robust internal communications and knowledge management to improve the impact of RMI’s programs, and for the platforms to evolve alongside the organization. As part of the IT team supporting these functions, RMI is seeking to add a trained SharePoint Administrator who can also address needs in Microsoft Teams. You will report to the Director of IT, while collaborating directly with the Director of Knowledge Management and with programmatic staff from across the organization on a variety of initiatives. This is a new position which represents expanded core competency at RMI.
- Oversee, maintain, troubleshoot, and support RMI’s SharePoint and Teams environments.
- Maintain SharePoint and Teams environments through patches, updates, upgrades.
- Work with end users to design, develop, and deploy new build and changes.
- Create templates and other enhancements to make site creation streamlined and more consistent.
- Provide Tier 3 support and troubleshooting of issues related to SharePoint and Teams that have been escalated from the helpdesk
- Provide SharePoint and Teams support and end-user training; build training library and learning pathways.
- Add users, controls access to document libraries, and set permissions.
- Integrate SharePoint and Teams with other Office365 products and RMI systems (where possible).
- Create and manage SharePoint and Power Automate workflows and processes.
- Identify new uses for SharePoint to meet company needs, including but not limited to:
- Create an archival process/automated archive solution that improves the user experience, makes it easier to find information/documents on live projects, and reduces the storage needs of the instance.
- Design a solution to track dead links and work with content providers to resolve issues
- Customize SharePoint through programming; manage limited customizations
- Manage support services from third-party vendors (scope work, engage contractors, execute deliverables against project timelines and budgets)
- Work with other IT team members to make enhancements to SharePoint that support IT strategic priorities, including securing our data and supporting a global team.
- Keep up to date with SharePoint and Teams developments.
- Monitor SharePoint usage and activity; make adjustments that ensure optimized user-experiences.
- Undergraduate degree with preferred concentration in computer science, information systems, business administration, Technology Services, or related discipline, or relative equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience with SharePoint
- Minimum 3 years in a system administration role
- Experience developing and managing key process documentation, including procedures, user-guides and training material
- Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
- Experience implementing requirements, and testing the resulting business processes
- Working knowledge of software development life cycle activities (i.e., requirements, analysis, design, construction, testing, and deployment) is preferred
- Detail-oriented with solid analytical skills to identify problem areas and opportunities for remediation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience in post-production SharePoint online environment as a primary technical resource
- Hands on experience with SharePoint site administration including design, configuration, and permissions.
- Works well in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to work with people across the organization at all levels and with varying technical skill/knowledge
- Ability to work independently on projects and under pressure
- Comprehensive knowledge of and experience using Power Apps, Power Automate/Workflows
- Comprehensive knowledge of Office 365 and Active directory groups and how they govern Team and Sharepoint permissions.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server, SQL Server, PowerShell, Azure Services, Active Directory, and Office 365.
- Experience with SharePoint Security Administration
- Experience with Power BI
- Experience with Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity
- Experience with Powershell or other scripting languages
We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.
We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.
We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.

RMI compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This role is expected to join at the minimum to mid salary range of $91,000-$106,000. You would also have an additional 10% bonus target!
