Job Accountabilities :

  • Drive a comprehensive EHS culture across the organization to support safety excellence and compliance with the purchase operating permits.
  • Develop and oversee site-specific health and safety programs, including ergonomic assessments and audits.
  • Focussed effort on creating an environment that puts safe-work thinking at top of mind for all.
  • Identify and introduce new or enhanced safety programs to address evolving operational risks.
  • Launch and scale Health, Wellness, and Safety Committees to build cross-functional engagement.
  • Conduct annual facility audits and implement corrective actions to reduce safety risks.
  • Perform internal audits to maintain compliance with Environmental Compliance Approvals and track resolutions.
  • Establish KPI tracking systems to monitor health and safety performance across the business.
  • Lead training initiatives in industrial hygiene, PPE, investigations, and first aid while managing completion tracking.
  • Manage injury reporting and compile monthly safety statistics to drive data-informed improvements.
  • Ensure organization-wide compliance with all applicable workplace safety regulations.
  • Oversee Workers' Compensation cases in partnership with HR to support employee recovery and claims processes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to evaluate new product hazards and recommend pre-market safety improvements.
  • Assess site operations to identify common EHS risks and implement preventative processes and procedures.
  • Manage all permitting requirements and renewals related to business activities to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Design and manage driver safety and associated transportation compliance programs.
  • Design and implement site-specific emergency response plans, including detailed procedures and team activation.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or a related degree.
  • 6+ years of experience as a safety and/or EHS manager in a manufacturing environment; graduate degree preferred
  • Manufacturing environment, Transportation Compliance (DOT/MTO) experience preferred, knowledge of North American regulatory bodies governing employee health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) designation preferred
  • Occupational Safety & Health certification preferred
  • Strong PC skills, including Excel and Word
  • Strong situational analysis skills to identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and influence
  • Ability to travel internationally
