Sr. Environmental Health and Safety Commercial Specialist

EHS Team Member responsible for supporting a region of Service, Sales, parts distribution, and remanufacturing operations. This individual directly reports to the Sr. manager, Safety (Commercial) and is an integral part of the EHS Team. They work collaboratively with multiple internal departments, including Security, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, and Sustainability, among other functions. The Sr. Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist becomes a conduit of support and fosters communications for sustainability, safety and environmental matters and is essential to successful employee engagement to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees.
Responsibilities:Stay Open and Seek to understand the unique risks of each function and location
Complete the necessary inspections of properties, and operations are carried out to ensure that EHS risk and opportunities are escalated and mitigated appropriately.
Assure compliance with all applicable OSHA, RCRA, NPDES, EPA, federal, state, local and health regulation requirements at multiple locations.
Act as primary Trainer
Ensure Emergency Response plans remain current
Ensure adequate recordkeeping and document management is maintained at the site level according to regulations and/ or to the extent deemed necessary by the organization in order to demonstrate fulfillment of regulatory requirements and/ or the needs and expectations of interested parties.
Coordinate Waste Management Activity and Compliance, Communicate, implement, and maintain EHS processes and programs to ensure that all applicable safety, occupational health, and environmental compliance programs are in place and functioning properly.
Ensure all Blind spot, near miss, incident, injury, and illness information is captured and that investigations are conducted to discover root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent further incidents.
Must collaborate effectively cross functionally.
Willingness to work extended or non-standard shifts.
Ability to Educate others on hazard identification and control solutions.
Establish high quality relationships with operations teams at multiple locations
Lead work restriction and return to work planning
Articulates and lives the Rivian culture by being present in the workplace, sets an example by modeling appropriate safety behaviors, and holds others accountable for their actions by identifying and acting on behavior which is inconsistent with safety standards.
Ensure new sites are opened in compliance and a safe working environment is able to be maintained during full scale operation.
Participates in Regulatory Agency inspections.
Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations (primary), with a working knowledge of DOT, substance abuse, and workers’ compensation programs. Strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and management skills required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be self-motivated and organized
Required:
Demonstrated prior work experience relevant to this position
Preferred:
Associates Degree in EHS or similar related area of study and/ or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar relevant industry professional certification or specialization.
Travel:35-40%
