Role Summary:
Our Platform Architecture team works to create the next-generation vehicle systems. In this role we are looking for a lead to help steer some of the vehicle power and energy distribution requirements for the low-voltage electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
Support the design of next-generation electrical systems by:
  • Performing research and development tasks for emerging technologies and preparing technical
  • Steer technology adoption across various organizations
  • Create architectural tradeoff’s considering cost, mass, performance, and serviceability.
  • Break down functions and features to their core components and work with teams to build them into unified solutions.
  • Balancing competing requirements, work cross-functionally in teams, driving and representing electrical functions in vehicle architectural discussions and decisions for upcoming Rivian vehicle platforms, and maintaining engineering performance budgets.
  • Working cross-functionally, drive and decompose requirements from product requirements down to electrical component level requirements.
  • Support development of vehicle logical schematics and overall electrical architecture of the program.
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience working in electrical systems or electronics design.
  • Advanced engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Ability to lead multiple teams with a technology from concept to production.
  • High EQ and the ability to collaborate to with others.
  • Ability to deep dive into first principles to reach proposed solution(s).
  • Deep functional distribution knowledge as it relates to highly technical.
  • Deep technical understanding of mass, weight, power and trade-offs across a vehicle.
  • Good understanding of the software and system integration of components.
  • High technical competence in electrical engineering.

Pay Disclosure:
  • Salary Range for Southern California Based Applicants: $196,000 - $245,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
  • Salary Range for Northern California Based Applicants: $213,000 - $266,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
  • Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26
