Role Summary:
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will be closely integrated into the manufacturing verticals, working with both Manufacturing Engineering and Operations teams. Ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on experience in automated process design, equipment specification, system configuration, parameter optimization, and in process monitoring in automotive or related industry.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design for manufacturability of battery interconnects for future vehicle programs
  • Draft Statement of Work and RFP documents for pilot and production equipment
  • Lead integrator downselection proposals and present to Directors and VPs for finance approval
  • Partner with production operations engineers and leaders to ensure successful ramp and long-term process sustainability
  • Support existing FAT and SAT commissioning initiatives for interconnect, inspection, and test equipment across multiple battery module lines
  • Perform continued laser welding process optimization to increase yield and throughput
  • Develop laser weld parameters to ensure robust and good quality welds that meets engineering requirement
  • Provide production feedback to design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of product without compromising functionality and performance
  • Lead and implement laser weld control plans and requirements
  • Be responsible for and ensure safety, quality, cost, timing & throughput targets are being achieved on all projects
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or similar Physics degree
  • Domain knowledge in mechanical design, automation development, machine vision, data science, or material science
  • Demonstrated experience in laser welding is a plus
  • Understanding of materials and its weldability especially of steel, aluminum, and copper in similar and dissimilar metal (steel/aluminum, steel/copper, aluminum/copper) laser welding applications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with process monitoring technologies for interconnect processes
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced in working within 2D & 3D CAD environments.
  • Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing skills (Cycle time, quality control, efficiency, equipment selection, return on investment, etc).
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and see the solution implemented to a high level of accuracy & quality.
  • Ability to follow general guidance on deliverables and self-guided to develop a path to completion.
  • Capable of working as a member of a team across several cross functional disciplines, including vendors.

Pay Disclosure:
Salary Range/Hourly Ratefor California based applicants: $107,800 - 134,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
