Senior Safety Sensing Engineer

The Senior Safety Sensing Engineer plays a key role in supporting crash sensing strategy development and sensor integration to ensure accurate crash detection and occupant protection. This role involves, analyzing sensor performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine sensing logic and deployment strategies. With growing autonomy, the individual in this position applies domain expertise, manages multiple deliverables, and contributes to continuous improvements in vehicle safety performance.
Responsibilities:Support the development of crash sensor configuration and calibration to meet global safety
standards.
Analyze and optimize sensor placement, crash mode discrimination, and crash sensing
algorithms through analysis of CAE simulations.
Contribute to defining deployment logic, plausibility checks, and threshold discrimination for
crash events.
Assist in the evaluation of harness routing, packaging feasibility, and vibration requirements for
sensor integration.
Support the validation of crash sensing logic to reduce airbag deployments in gray zones while
ensuring secondary crash protection.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine sensing logic for active pedestrian protection
systems.
Work with suppliers to support sensor calibration development and integration.
Manage assignments independently, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment with program
objectives.

Internship or project experience in automotive or related field
Basic understanding of inertial measurement units (IMUs), accelerometers, pressure sensors
and their outputs
Familiarity of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART)
Experience with Matlab, Python and/or scripting languages
Capable of working as a member of a team across several cross functional disciplines, including
with external stakeholders and global teams
Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $135,100.00 - $168,900.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
