Role Summary:

In this position, you will be working with the Rivian EPC (Electric Power Conversion) Mechanical Engineering team, supporting the mechanical CAD design of traction inverters and on-board power conversion products used in Rivian vehicles. With expertise in Catia, you will provide detailed 3D design and 2D drawings of components suitable for manufacturing in areas of castings, injection molding, and forming of sheet metal. You will also be navigating large assemblies, organize bill of materials, and be able to execute design releases in Enovia PLM. This opening is located in Carson, CA. This role reports to the EPC Mechanical CAD Design Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Parametric 3D mechanical design of parts and assemblies used in EV power electronics.
  • Create 2D drawings for parts and assemblies using ASME-Y14.5 drafting standards and application of GD&T.
  • Make PLM coordinated revisions to existing 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Prepare data for release through PLM system meeting requirements conforming to Rivian standards.
  • Generate CAD illustrations of assemblies and exploded views for use in assembly instruction documentation.
  • Execute 3D packaging studies of design concepts considering package envelope, system performance and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams such as CAE, EE, vehicle packaging and systems engineering.
  • Create project status reports communicating progress and roadblocks.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using CATIA (V6 preferred)
  • DFM knowledge relative to CNC machining, injection molding, die casting and sheet metal design.
  • Able to apply DFA for manufacturing of power electronics and vehicle integration.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and its application to part manufacturing and assembly tolerancing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office apps (Excel, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and a quick learner who is able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work flexible hours and passionate about getting assignments done on time.
  • Experience working at an automotive start-up is a plus.
  • Interest in automobiles and EV powertrain architecture.
Pay Disclosure:
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $137,800 - $172,200 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
