About us

Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on Earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.

We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.

We have one single goal – reduce the levelised cost of methane to the point drilling stops and companies mine the sky for carbon. If you aspire to make a difference in the real-world, surrounded by people you admire doing great work with intensity, this is for you.

We’re looking for a Technical Programme Manager to support the development and scale-up of our core technology, owning programme delivery while remaining a significant technical contributor.

The role

  • Own delivery of major technical programmes, subsystems or modules.
  • Manage projects, phases, workstreams, tasks, schedules and dependencies.
  • Identify critical paths, technical risks and resource constraints, and drive work to completion.
  • When problems arise, establish what is known, identify what is missing and drive the work needed to reach a decision.
  • Replan quickly: reprioritise, parallelise, outsource and remove blockers.
  • Drive engineers across multidisciplinary teams through clear ownership and priorities.
  • Contribute directly to system engineering, requirements, technical derisking, qualification and scale-up.
  • Drive the research and development strategy to address our biggest company risks

Core skills

  • 5+ years experience in mechanical, process, systems or related engineering.
  • Experience delivering complex R&D, scale-up or first-of-a-kind engineering programmes.
  • Strong technical judgement and first-principles problem solving.
  • Experience managing technical risk, schedules, resources and dependencies.
  • Comfortable working across system-level engineering, requirements, testing and qualification.
  • Able to work effectively under intense timelines and technical uncertainty.
  • Takes problems end-to-end rather than simply reporting them.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team of technical specialists

Specifics

  • £70-90k Salary depending on experience
  • Share options as part of the early team
  • Extensive relocation support, including £6000 per year extra to live close to our HQ
  • In-person work at our HQ in Bermondsey, South-East London – flexibility considered based on personal circumstances
  • Private health insurance
  • Visa sponsorship available
  • Unlimited time off

We encourage exceptional applicants from all backgrounds to apply for this role, even if they do not meet all the requirements listed.
