Position Overview

Ripple Effect Consulting’s Operations team is seeking an experienced Solar Technician II to support ongoing O&M (Operations & Maintenance) activities across our utility-scale solar energy sites in Missouri. This position is critical to ensuring our solar facilities operate safely, efficiently, and to standards that exceed industry best practices.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who thrives in the field environment, can lead by example, and is eager to grow with a rapidly expanding renewable energy organization. As Ripple Effect Consulting continues to strengthen its position as a leading independent power producer (IPP), this role offers outstanding opportunities for professional development and advancement.

This position will be based at our project located at US Hwy 63 and County Road 361 C, Kirksville, Missouri 63501, and will require daily commuting to the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform operations and maintenance activities for solar PV sites and substations.

  • Conduct corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on assigned systems.

  • Work with equipment including but not limited to SunGrow 4400, SunGrow 3600, and Soltec Trackers, as well as high-, medium-, and low-voltage switching systems.

  • Prepare and execute switching and clearance orders in accordance with safety procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with all environmental and safety regulations.

  • Work independently or collaboratively with other field personnel as needed.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Hands-on experience with electrical and/or construction projects; comfortable with basic IT tools.

  • Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and ability to enhance existing protocols.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional, and geographically diverse organization.

  • Proven problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-starting mindset.

  • Technical proficiency with standard business software and reporting tools.

  • Solid understanding of applicable safety and environmental regulations.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent Journeyman qualifications (preferred).

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PV O&M (Operations & Maintenance) for solar systems.

  • At least 5 years of experience in power plant operations, including 1+ year in solar O&M or construction.

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and applied solid-state theory.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor fieldwork in varying weather and environmental conditions.

  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and use of personal protective equipment.

  • Work may involve exposure to rotating or energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.

  • Occasional lifting and extended work hours, including overtime or weekends, as required.

  • Travel up to 10%, primarily to support operations at the Hardy Hills project in Indiana.
