About Resurrect Bio

Resurrect Bio is a VC-backed plant biotech scale-up, discovering how to make crops resistant to disease using gene editing. We fix the immune system of crop species. We have a unique pipeline and platform for discovering resistance genes in crops which have been defeated by pathogens and pests. We then resurrect (restore) those resistance genes to make the crop resistant again, without introducing any new DNA to the crop.

We’re focussed on delivering for the world’s farmers a better way to protect their plants, using the crop's own immune system instead of spraying chemicals. This will enable them to increase food production, reduce land for agriculture and help mitigate climate change.

In December 2021, Resurrect Bio was spun out of the top institute for molecular plant microbe interactions, The Sainsbury Lab, Norwich. Since then, we have attracted financial support from several renowned VCs, as well as UK Government grant funding. We recently raised our Series A investment round and you are invited to look at our LinkedIn posts to find out more.

  • Salary based on experience
  • Share options in Resurrect Bio
  • Up to 10% annual bonus on your base salary (personal OKRs + company goals)

  • Pension plan

  • Full-time: 35hours pw, Monday-Friday

This role

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Junior or Mid-level Project Manager to join our growing team at our lab in West London. In this role you will bridge the gap between Science and Operations, working closely with our wet and dry lab teams to track milestones and ensure the on-time delivery of our disease resistance traits.

You will ideally have a Biology or Life Sciences undergrad degree, and/or experience working within a fast paced laboratory environment where priorities change fast but the vision and mission are very clear. You need to be good with people, can foresee problems, and work with others to find workable solutions. You will enjoy reading a gantt chart, setting up workflows in tools like Notion, and will have a grip on the status of all headline projects.

While you will predominantly work with the wet and dry lab teams, you will sit with the Head of Operations to bridge the gap effectively and add value to the prioritisation and on-time delivery of internal projects.

Responsibilities

  • Project tracking - working with the teams to monitor day-to-day progress, map out timelines and ensure key milestones are met
  • Project reporting - you’ll be able to let the Head of Operations know about the status of any project and/or keep our project tracking tools up to date so information is easily accessible by all.
  • Grant reporting - keeping track of expenses and time sheets for InnovateUK grants and preparing reports (training will be provided if not done before)
  • Risk management - learn to understand the scientific process to a level where you can foresee risks before anyone else in the room (e.g human and physical resources, space, time conflicts, etc).
  • Process management - keeping track of processes and iterating them where they can be improved.
  • Clear communication - we are a friendly team, but there will be times where you have to push back on management decisions and explain why it can’t be done; conversely, you will bring solutions that could expedite processes

Opportunities we provide

  • Collaborative working environment in a well-funded scale up
  • Contribute to ground breaking research which we will use to transform plant biotechnology
  • Make a real world impact on the life of farmers across the world
  • Networking via attending conferences if desired
  • Supportive training to upskill areas you identify relevant to your role
  • Tailored personal growth opportunities

Qualifications/Experience

  • BSc in Biology or another Life Science (preferable)
  • Experience as project coordinator or manager within a Lab (desired)
  • Must be able to demonstrate positive experience working within a dynamic team environment

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Communicate effectively with various teams and upwardly to management
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Knowledge of various PM methodologies and where they fit best
  • Working knowledge of PM tools such as Notion, Monday.com, ClickUp, Asana, Jira, Trello, etc
  • Risk management
  • Evidence of foreseeing risks
  • Solution first attitude
  • It’s difficult to be the person who has to see the risks, but also bring the solution. Experience doing this is vital.
  • Happy to work independently, take initiative and solve problems creatively

Application process

This role uses blind recruitment practices to reduce unconscious bias in our hiring process. The system identifies information such as names, photos, and personal details that are removed during initial screening to ensure candidates are evaluated solely on their skills and experience. We are an equal opportunities employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.

By clicking apply, you will be invited to upload your resume and answer a few short questions in lieu of a cover letter. This is to ensure we fairly process every application. Shortlisted applicants will be then asked to provide a cover letter, before proceeding to the next interview stages.

Applications aim to close EOD Wednesday June 17th, but we reserve the right to change this date if too many or too few appropriate applications are received.
