About Resurrect Bio
Resurrect Bio is a VC-backed plant biotech start-up, discovering how to make crops resistant to disease using gene editing. We fix the immune system of crop species. We have a unique pipeline and platform for discovering resistance genes in crops which have been defeated by pathogens and pests. We then resurrect (restore) those resistance genes to make the crop resistant again, without introducing any new DNA to the crop.
We’re focussed on delivering for the world’s farmers a better way to protect their plants, using the crop's own immune system instead of spraying chemicals. This will enable them to increase food production, reduce land for agriculture and help mitigate climate change.
In December 2021, Resurrect Bio was spun out of the top institute for molecular plant microbe interactions, The Sainsbury Lab, Norwich. Since then, we have attracted financial support from several renowned VCs, as well as UK Government grant funding. We recently raised our Series A investment round and you are invited to look at our LinkedIn posts to find out more.
What We Offer
We are seeking a proactive Scientist II/III to join our growing team at our lab in London. This role will work within our production team and contribute to the on-time delivery of our disease resistance traits.
You will work with our team of experienced Research Technicians on our High Throughput platform to help in the discovery of new disease resistance traits. You will significantly contribute to the resurrection of identified candidates, with your advanced molecular understanding of proteins.
You don’t necessarily need to have a plant background, although an interest in plant biology and Resurrect Bio’s mission would be beneficial.
The production team is growing, and will soon comprise 5 people. We are looking for someone with management/leadership experience, who can share line management duties with the Team Lead. This doesn’t have to be in a lab setting, it can also be demonstrated through team leadership roles in sports/hobbies or previous jobs. You will be supported in this by the Team Lead, Head of Operations and a Project Manager - making this an ideal first research management opportunity.
Responsibilities
This role uses blind recruitment practices to reduce unconscious bias in our hiring process. The system identifies information such as names, photos, and personal details that are removed during initial screening to ensure candidates are evaluated solely on their skills and experience. We are an equal opportunities employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
By clicking apply, you will be invited to upload your resume and answer a few short questions in lieu of a cover letter. This is to ensure we fairly process every application. Shortlisted applicants will be then asked to provide a cover letter, before proceeding to the next interview stages.
Applications aim to close EOD Monday May 18th, but we reserve the right to change this date if too many or too few appropriate applications are received.
