Climate Advisory Specialist
You will be given the possibility to work responsibly and independently within a broad variety of tasks. Your portfolio will include the following.
Your Main Tasks
- Provide technical advice to the investment team in the assessment of climate mitigation and adaptation solutions in key target countries
- Engage with investee companies to evaluate the technical and environmental & social (E&S) impacts of climate mitigation / adaptation projects against specific guidelines of the fund
- Carryout GHG impact assessment of climate mitigation technologies
- Liaise proactively and constructively with a wide variety of investment support functions (TA and E&S) during the investment cycle
- Carry out technical and environmental & social due diligence (ESDD) of climate mitigation / adaptation projects
- Engage with the investee companies to facilitate the implementation of technical and environmental & social action plan
- Gather key market data related to climate solutions into a format that can be analyzed and presented for decision makers
- Monitor critical technological trends in climate mitigation / adaptation solutions, summarizing them in concise and thoughtful summaries
- Support the team in monitoring the portfolio in terms of GHG impact and environmental and social risk management systems
- Support the team in preparing monthly / quarterly / annual performance reports
- Degree in engineering with background and/or experience in Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency/Electric Mobility/Circular Economy/Climate Smart Agriculture
- Minimum of 6 years of work experience either in climate mitigation / adaptation project development, consulting, or investment firm; experience in a climate change consulting firm is preferred
- Some regional and international travel may be required
- Superior written and oral communication skills with relevant track record in English
- GHG accounting principles/methodologies
- Technical assessment of climate mitigation/adaptation interventions
- Environmental & Social risk management
- Managing large data sets and ability to perform independent research
- Demonstrated personal and/or professional interest in development finance and/or climate finance that has led to a nuanced understanding of the unique challenges found in emerging markets
- Strong competence in the use of presentational and quantitative tools
- Highly reliable, flexible, and self-reliant personality with good intercultural skills
- Independence of opinion while being a team player and have the ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
