VP, Growth and Policy
Job title: VP, Growth and Policy
Company: RenewCred (Net Zero Initiative Private Limited)
Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Workplace type: Remote
Job type: Full time
Seniority level: Vice President
About RenewCred
RenewCred (Net Zero Initiative Private Limited) is the Global South's first carbon credits standard and registry, building trust infrastructure for the voluntary carbon market. We develop rigorous climate methodologies, operate a transparent registry, and use our own digital MRV systems to deliver faster, data backed assurance and issuance of carbon credits. Our focus is engineered and technology enabled climate projects. Project developers get methodology design, monitoring tools, registry services, and market readiness infrastructure. Buyers get credible credits backed by strong scientific review, continuous project data, and transparent governance.
Supported by a community of more than 100 scientists, we are building a more rigorous, accessible, and finance ready carbon market for the Global South and beyond. We exist because carbon markets were meant to enable the climate transition and too often became instruments of convenience. We are building climate infrastructure the world can trust: science led, technology native, and built for decades, not quarters.

About the role
The VP, Growth and Policy is a full time remote role reporting to the CEO. It leads RenewCred's overall growth strategy, including market expansion, sales planning, and business development across our standard and registry services, the Net Zero platform, and the RenewCred Climate Academy. You will lead a small team, identify and cultivate strategic partnerships, own key client and stakeholder relationships, and work with our science, technology, and marketing teams so that what we offer matches what the market needs.
The role sits where growth and policy meet. State and national carbon policy shapes all 3 products: which projects developers can register and where, how governments and buyers treat digital MRV, and what the market needs to learn next. You will guide RenewCred's policy positioning, engage with regulators, standard setters, and industry forums, and represent us in external dialogues on climate governance and voluntary carbon market integrity.
What you will own
1. Project developers on the RenewCred Standard and Registry
- Build and manage a pipeline of project developers in India, across the Global South, and internationally.
- Help developers understand what RenewCred does differently, which of our methodologies apply to them, and what registration, verification, and issuance involve.
- Take developers from first conversation to onboarding on the RenewCred platform, so that what is promised is what gets delivered.
2. The Net Zero platform
- Grow adoption of the Net Zero platform, our digital MRV as a service, open to every project developer irrespective of the standard and registry they choose.
- Position the platform with developers, verification bodies, and other standards as the verification layer for their projects.
- Carry market and policy feedback back into the product roadmap.
3. RenewCred Climate Academy
- Grow the Academy as an institution. Its first course is the Carbon Markets Practitioner Certification, a 12 week online programme, and more courses will follow.
- Own cohort demand, institutional and employer partnerships, and the Academy's standing in the market.
Across all 3
- Set performance targets with the CEO, work in quarters, and bring data informed recommendations to senior leadership.
- Work closely with marketing to strengthen RenewCred's brand presence and stakeholder engagement.
- Build, lead, and mentor a small team.
Who we are looking for
- At least 4 years of experience in the voluntary carbon market. This is a hard requirement. You should understand the market inside out: standards and registries, methodologies, validation and verification, issuance and retirement, buyers and pricing, and the integrity frameworks now reshaping it, including the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, CORSIA, and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
- Demonstrated experience in sales and business development, with a track record of driving revenue growth and building long term partnerships, ideally with project developers.
- Deep understanding of climate policy and environmental finance, preferably with exposure to Global South contexts, and the ability to hold a policy conversation and a commercial conversation with equal comfort.
- Proven team leadership: leading cross functional teams, mentoring talent, and building collaborative, inclusive ways of working.
- Strong strategic planning skills, with the ability to design and implement go to market strategies in complex, evolving markets.
- Marketing sense: positioning climate solutions, stakeholder engagement, and brand building in B2B contexts.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, and the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and technical experts. You write clearly; we think in writing at RenewCred.
- Experience in startups or mission driven organisations, ideally in climate technology, sustainability, or impact finance.
- High empathy and high ethics. We do not bend data, narratives, or intent to suit outcomes, and we will not hire someone who does.
An advanced degree in business, public policy, environmental science, economics, or a related field is welcome but not required. Equivalent experience counts fully. Beyond the 4 years in the voluntary carbon market, there is no other filter: we care about what you know, what you have done, and how you think.
How we work
- Remote, with occasional travel to meet project developers, partners, and governments.
- We work 6 days a week. We say this plainly so that you can decide with full information.
- We trust individuals deeply. You will have high autonomy over how you achieve goals, and we care about outcomes, not performative busyness.
- We work in quarters. Goals are directional, and missing one is a learning, not a failure, provided the reflection is honest.
- Titles matter far less than responsibility. Ownership matters more than authority.
