2. About the Opportunity:
The Technical Writer & Editor role supports the communication and stakeholder engagement efforts of California’s market transformation program. This position is responsible for producing, reviewing, and editing technical reports and other materials that communicate the program’s progress and outcomes. The role plays a key part in synthesizing complex technical data into clear, concise narratives and visual content that inform and engage diverse audiences.
3. Responsibilities:
• Research and write reports and other content summarizing the market transformation program''s initiatives and progress.
• Provide technical copy editing, fact-checking, and sourcing for reports and studies from partners and contractors.
• Conceptualize and create data-driven visuals to enhance information sharing.
• Develop presentation materials that effectively convey key messages and outcomes.
• Support document production and ensure adherence to branding and messaging standards.
• Participate in planning and executing activities to promote program activities and progress.
• Collaborate effectively as a member of cross-functional project teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
4. Requirements:
• Residency in California is required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy efficiency with subject matter expertise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience writing and editing technical and marketing documents.
• Proficient in fact-checking and citing technical material.
• Skilled in data visualization and developing graphical content from technical information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, especially formatting styles.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
• Flexible and adaptable to dynamic team and project demands.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and critical thinking.
• Commitment to inclusive and culturally sensitive collaboration.
• Interest or experience in energy or sustainability fields.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $122,000.
• Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
• Final compensation will depend on experience, education, and location.
